RedemptionZeni
Tomorrow will mark two weeks since I was discharged from the hospital, and I have been taking my medications regularly and eating healthily, but my ascites is still noticeable and some nights I start moaning and wake up every hour even though I'm not in pain. My weight when I got out of the hospital was 188lbs and stayed in the 186-88 range for a few days afterward, but every day since then I've noticed that I have been losing a few pounds. Right now I am at 161. Do you think I am losing weight at a concerning rate or is this a good thing because I might be shedding excess weight? wacky1980
did you finally take a shower? that would explain most of the weight loss.

I'm not a fan of showers. I like taking hot bubble baths and oatmeal baths.

I'm still genuinely confused as to how the whole healthcare system works. I know I have my primary doctor, who I've never met and who isn't a liver specialist, and that I was supposed to set up a follow-up appointment with someone who is a liver specialist and is covered by my health insurance, but I honestly don't know who to call. I figure I should call the local hospital and ask someone there because they've had someone drain the bilirubin in my abdominal region twice in the past two months, and it would appear I'm due to get it drained again. Call your primary and get a referral. They should be able to hook you up with somebody who pars with your insurance. You'll probably have to see the primary to establish first; the referral can be done at that appointment, although I can't guarantee that it will. Poof
You can call hospitals and if you really need help they can sometimes get you appointments w/specialists w/o referrals. Cleveland Clinic got me to my current endocrinologist for my hormones without a referral. You should still go see your primary tho even if u can get to a specialist without referral. If this is all real theres no reason to be in your condition without seeing your primary
