Phillies Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Hot water seems to damage/shrink clothes, yet cold water doesn't seem to get the smell out. I have always pondered this question.

Phillies Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 It doesn't seem logical to use cold water. Yet it doesn't seem logical to use hot water. hmmm....
1938_Packard Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Hot water seems to damage/shrink clothes, yet cold water doesn't seem to get the smell out. I have always pondered this question. Cold water can get the smell out. Sometimes it's the method that makes the difference. Don't cram the washer. Pile the clothes in at 2/3 of the barrel or less. That lets the water circulate more thoroughly and get the malodorous substances out of the fabric. Also, try using less detergent. Detergent is mostly a surfactant. it makes the water softer so it flows better between the clothing fibers. When you use too much, it leaves a sticky film on the cloth.
Ric Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Why wash them? Just buy new clothes. Not everyone is rich like you and Greeny.
Mewn Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Try fabric softener or something like this http://www.purex.com/products/fragrance-boosters/purex-crystals/ ??? But if they're that stanky, might as well just toss 'em.
