It's rather obvious that you advocate for this because of the shortcomings in your life. Have you ever thought about the immigrants that come from poor countries, work their asses off, and take advantage of our capitalist society to better themselves? That's not to say I'm completely against socialism, but come on.

The Venus Project is not socialism. Socialism uses money, has banks, armies, politicians, and war. A resource based economy has none of those things. It's completely unlike anything that has been done before and comparing it to socialism is laughable. Compared to a Resource Based Economy, socialism, communism and capitalism are all basically identical because they have the same aforementioned qualities, whereas a resource based economy will not. The only difference between the systems that end in "ism" are the type of lies that are told to keep people in line...

A resource based economy has interested me for years.

Wont happen in our lifetimes, though. You can always hope...

We will probably get a step in that direction. Machines have already taken so many jobs that the way we do things isn't working. We will probably see a universal basic income, which is like a resource based economy in that people aren't expected to do demoralizing manual labor in exchange for basic life necessities, but unlike an R.B.E. in that it will still use the old cities and more or less pretend to be using money still, to appease bootlickers during a transitional period. Remember Andrew Yang? He got an honorable mention this election cycle to introduce some of the key concepts without saying "Resource Based Economy" outright.
