Would you pay $850 for a trash can?

My employer is pricing new trash cans to replace the old, dented and faded cans on the casino floor.  Thanks to so many states imposing indoor smoking bans, there seems to be a problem in getting cans that match the needed specifications.  They need to have tops equipped with ashtrays as well as holes at the top for trash. (front loaders are a problem because drunk people always miss the entry point altogether and trash ends up on the floor around the can.)  So, there are only about three companies that are still selling the ashtray tops and that means they can charge ridiculous prices for them.  The lowest quote was $850each.  That's after the $100 per can discount on a bulk order.  They used to cost between $250 and $300 before so many indoor smoking bans took place.

We MUST allow indoor smoking so failing casinos can buy trashcans at reasonable prices.

Tell him to try Google....I found several that fit your arbitrary criteria for a fraction of the cost......Sure if I looked for wholesalers, and secondhand supply store, I could find others, but no one is really buying trash cans.  We can see through you.

AND smell you a mile away.

To you, it's arbitrary.  Think about what you just said.  You don't work with these things every day.  Notice that "specifications" is plural, meaning that there are other criteria to meet besides the ashtray top.  A can that's too small, for example, would be filling more frequently, meaning time lost from other work.  A steel can would rust out in about six months.  A plastic one would be a fire hazard.  Most outdoor cans are too bulky and would obstruct the aisles.

What you're doing is shopping for trash cans without enough information to know what is practical on this property and what isn't.

Well, what I mean is you are just trying to push this smoking inside agenda, but what you did with this post was essentially admit to your poor, and arbitrary discriptions.  You see, your query revolves around the idea that you have offered ample information to give one the ability to see if $850 is a competitive price for the garbage receptacle you are referring to, but instead you set up a completely loose and incomplete description so that the reader could never assess the question in a serious matter.

But as I said, you just want to complain about having to take your stanking ass outside, away from other people, to smoke your cancerous bullshit.  You're not hard to figure out.
