Hunting

Anyone besides me on this board Hunt? Archery starts up in my state in a couple of days for deer.

My dad and brother used to hunt pheasant. My brother still goes sometimes, but my dad’s knees are in too bad of shape for him to go.

I'm cheap and you get a good amount of meat out of a deer. Also venison is expensive as all hell. Right now if you can find it it's $13 lb. You can get prime rib for less than that. So shooting a deer is about 60-80lbs of meat when you remove the hide, bones, etc. Pretty much getting over $1k worth of meat for the cost of a hunting license.

My dad also used to bird hunt. I only went rabbit and squirrel, over development in the area left no places near by for bird hunting, unless you want to drive over an hour. Bird hunting though is more of a sport/hobby than for the meat, there's practically nothing to eat on wild birds aside from geese. late 80s photo of dad with a bird and the dog's name was lady
