recap of the drama, the show had a big gay fanbase due to the show pulling a Naruto and Sasuke type dynamic with Keith and Lance where they seemed gay even though they weren't gonna be, instead of do what any OTHER creator would've done and just politely say nothing was gonna happen they winked and nudged and hinted to be excited for that.....so when nothing happened fans got PIIIIISSSSSED, so then when season 7 was gonna drop they confirmed Shiro "isn't straight" (I'll get to that in a second) and revealed he had a boyfriend back on earth.....it was then revealed that his boyfriend died prior to the series and he was only shown in one scene.....so the show's fandom died because by that point the only reason anyone was watching was because they'd been misled into believing the show would have positive gay representation and the fandom's last message to the show's crew was basically that they used and abused their gay fans and their gay fans were never going to trust or watch ANY of the crew's future projects.....so they issued an apology and delayed season 8

turns out they delayed it to add a post credit's scene showing Shiro got a new boyfriend and married him....I.e an apology for season 7

(Ignore this guy's slightly insane enthusiasm it's just the only video I could find of the scene)

basically they did everything wrong and then all they were able to do to make up for it was a post credits scene showing that Shiro DID ultimately get a happy ending after all

now onto him "not being straight"

leading up to season 7 they refused to say he was gay, just that he "loved men" their initial claim was that they were "trying to be inclusive to all LGBT people by not labeling him"

then after the backlash they claimed that he IS in fact by REAL WORLD standards gay, as he is ONLY romantically interested in other men.....they were just trying to soapbox a faux liberal "Labels are bad everyone should just identify as pansexual UwU" ideology.....which IMO if you think how ANY LGBT person self identifies is "bad" you shouldn't have tried to include us, because it shows you know absolutely nothing about gay people and put us on a pedistal of somehow believing gay people are inherently "purer" than straight people and that labels aren't important to us (spoiler, they are, because it's the only way a gay person can possibly explain what we are and who we love to other people, AND the only way a trans person can assert their gender to others)
