SpaceX is testing their Falcon Heavy rocket today by launching Elon Musks Tesla at Mars,.  You can watch it happen live here: http://www.spacex.com/webcast

 

The test flight is supposed to happen in 21 minutes.

This specifically is an achievement for humanity, it's our interface with space, which reminds me that we're all inconsequential specks on a little blue dot near one of a cluster of a trillion yellow dots that is just one of trillions of these clusters of dots.

Then I go back to doing office stuff that will never matter in this grand scheme.

I guess my standards of achievements in the universe are much smaller. I think it's really cool that there's enough of us humans on our little blue dot to make it shiny in space. So we're not just a boring blue dot but a Christmas ornament dot.
