PhilosipherStoned
The hair from two Border Collie mixes is enough to break the belt on this cheap "Eureka Airspeed exact pet" vacuum twice in a few months. Now I either need to take it apart and probably put another replacement belt on it, or find a vacuum that doesn't get hair caught in the rollers. Anybody here got any cheap but effective suggestions for pet hair vacuums? I'm thinking about trying this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009XI21O8/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2GZV9JIPA54NY&colid=24ZWEOL0EONVT but if money wasn't an object I'd buy this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DTYB05C/ref=asc_df_B01DTYB05C5221080/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B01DTYB05C&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167140851087&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14970150941303386396&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9028429&hvtargid=pla-275023924465
molarbear
My old border collie/retriever mix wouldn't let one of those get near her, she didn't like the noise. I ended up buying this special brush that's designed for hairier dogs and it's suppose to remove the loose fur from their inner coat and it seemed to work pretty well *side note I put a dip in about 3 mins ago and apparently didn't brush my finger off enough because I wiped my eye mid post and now it's burning like crazy TL:DR I think I just sacrificed my eye to make this post
PhilosipherStoned
sorry about that.. all I know is I do need an upgrade.. or maybe if I fix this vacuum I can just buy one of those little handheld pet-hair vacuums to touch up the bad spots so the hair doesn't clog up the main vacuum. molarbear
are they primarily inside or outside dogs? If it doesn't get too cold where you live you could always buy some dog clippers and keep their fur short
PhilosipherStoned
Sorry for necro bump, but I'm still trying to work this issue. If I vacuumed more I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem this is mostly my fault. I wait until my dogs shed visible clumps of hair before I vacuum a lot, and I know I should vacuum at least every few days and I don't do it near as often as that. I took my vacuum apart and just as I expected a huge mass of hair had got jammed in the side of the rollers and made the belt overheat and melt on to the roller a bit.. I ordered another belt to try and get this one back up and running, but I'm still looking for a better vacuum that has a roller designed with this in mind. I read a bunch of great stuff online about the Bissel Pet Hair Eraser vacuum, but I'm not ready to spend $200+ on a vacuum just yet. I'll probably just try to use this cheap walmart one, and if it keeps being a problem I'll try another vac. It's a cheaper Bissel pet vac, but the roller design seems alot better than the one I have. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009XI21O8/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2GZV9JIPA54NY&colid=24ZWEOL0EONVT

PhilosipherStoned
I was thinking that might be best lol, shouldn't have to worry about it breaking at least. How much does one of those go for?

lupin_bebop
Realistically, ANY vacuum will do. I recommend bagless ones for pets. You don't have to spend that much. The one I use is like $45. The belts cost more than the fucking vacuum. I recommend a shopvac, honestly, you can do wet and dry that way.
PhilosipherStoned
Yeah the replacement for this "Eureka Exact pet" was $10 online with shipping, but it gets clogged up every time I use it unless I vacuum daily. Second time I've had to take it apart and put on a new belt and I havent even used it that much. A shop vac is sounding good though.. I've never used one inside on a carpetted floor, but when it's shedding season I could use that thing to save my house vac the stress I guess.. I just want to be able to vacuum without worrying about breaking my machine.

If it doesn't get too cold where you live you could always buy some dog clippers and keep their fur short I usually let these two sleep inside every night, but they don't have to.. If it's really hot I let them inside to cool off, but I've gotten too lax on letting them stay inside anyway..They spend most of their time out doors, but they can come inside and shed a carpet of hair in a few minutes. lupin_bebop
THen get a fucking shopvac and call it a day. They will last for damn near ever if you treat them correctly.
PhilosipherStoned
I will I guess. That thought didn't really occur to me until Rogue said something.. All I know is I'm defenitely not buying another belt for the vacuum I have. I can't even find it at any local store when I've went to look for it. Misaka
I have the Dyson pet vacuum https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4BI77I?psc=1 Works better than anything I had in the past 6 years
PhilosipherStoned
Yeah I saw some cheaper ones then that craftsmen for sure. I'll have to look around, but a genuine shop vac is also good to have around. I'll check the stores when I get paid I guess.. I spend too much money on :420: and video games to have a broken vacuum cleaner to worry about every other week.
