Guest The Hound Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I'm using my Samsung VR and passthrough camera mode to view it. It's... not that good. I see a slither every now and then with it on, but the camera is way too sensitive to the sun and I only catch it briefly during auto focusing. I'm expecting the peak of the eclipse to be fully visible.
Guest The Hound Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Anyone else worried about botching their phone camera if you have a VR headset https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/can-i-photograph-eclipse-my-smartphone
Ginguy Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 It's getting darker here right now. In seven years we will be in the path of a solar eclipse again.
fuggnificent Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 On a rooftop with my eclipse glasses. 4 mins to go!

Zenigundam Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 youll actually ruin your samsung doing that the uv rays are polarized from the eclipse to the camera That's not how eclipses work... Mr. Scientist.
Zenigundam Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 i did it for all of 5 minutes You must be a novice at experiencing eclipses.
Top Gun Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I was amazed that the ambient light was noticeably dimmer even at 75% of totality. It felt like the level of light you'd normally see around 7PM or so.
Misaka Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 You must be a novice at experiencing eclipses. Did you stare into the sun without the glasses?
