  1. The person who tormented Jiren in his youth was Farmer with Shotgun.
  2. It should be possible to find the numbers for manga volume sales, reader popularity polls, and ratings for the anime. That would tell us about popularity in Japan, at least. For the U.S., yeah, hard to tell. The fact I can barely find any fan art doesn't seem like a good sign. But maybe that's the fact it's so new, and has been called like three different things so far, I dunno. Well like I said Fire Force is new. Of course some shows are smash hits right off the bat. If this show still isn't, it could gain a following. Oof yea that doesn't sound good haha. Ah, well fair enough, heh.
  3. I just saw that Crunchyroll has a behind-the-scenes making-of documentary. I was wondering if making the girls' faces look normal was part of it lmao. I didn't check it out because I thought there might be spoilers, though. Here it is, in case anyone is interested. Not sure if it has spoilers or not. I'd imagine there probably are, since it's release date was probably in consideration of where the sub is and not the dub. https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/09/13/discover-how-dr-stone-got-made-in-crunchyrolls-new-documentary
  4. So, I thought the show was going to be about Dr. Stone, this scientist fighter who uses different potions to make his body have stone or other properties and use them in fights... I was way off, lol. Well, hopefully this will still be interesting.
  5. Well Black Clover is an affectionate semi-parody. There are still legit moments. There's been some great story arcs and great character arcs, stuff I've seen pulled off a lot better than in some other shows. Noelle, and Vanessa are good examples. Also the fact they are women, and women haven't done much in MHA, and are incompetent in Naruto, for a couple examples. There have been some things out of the box, like making the leader of the enemy faction beaten before some of his minions, and not be the strongest of his group. And I think characters Yami and Zora makes the parody aspect pretty obvious. There a was a whole episode where Yami just sits there and takes the piss out of all the other Magic Knight Captains. Then Zora comes in (complete with JYB troll voice) this last arc and makes fun of all the happy-go-lucky characters and doesn't give a fuck. Later we learn he's out to go after corrupt Magic Knights. Lots of other stuff that's good about Black Clover, so I wouldn't say the praise is underserved, no. Don't know if I would call it bad writing, but there have been some... questionable things. Hibana's sudden about face which was a bit much even for shonen (this is talk no jutsu on steroids!) made me think THIS show might be semi-parody! Then there is the whole shift to investigating other companies which is not what I expected. Though an unexpected story direction is not necessarily a bad thing. I wouldn't expect the show to be about fighting mindless Infernals forever, sort of how like Bleach couldn't be about fighting Hollows forever, even though that was one of my favorite parts of the show. But I think they could have focused on fighting Infernals a bit longer. I will say this much, though, it certainly doesn't feel like Fire Force is off to as much of a strong start as Soul Eater was. That's what I said about Hunter x Hunter, lol. I loved Yu Yu Hakusho, but could not stand HxH. But I follow what Poke said. Good at first, Company 5 arc kind of eh, this arc is looking better and hopefully the show improves and can catch some kind of stride.
  6. It might be popular in Japan. Anybody know the numbers for it there? I mean the manga is still going. Usually if a manga doesn't do well, it will get cancelled. Animes have predetermined seasons so if the show did bad they just wouldn't make more after the initial set of episodes. Maybe it is just too new in the U.S.? Hasn't caught on enough yet? I mean I thought this show was supposed to be a big deal, though. Even more frustrating, is the search engines didn't seem to know the difference between Maki and Tamaki at first!
  7. No, oversaturated. As in, there's a whole bunch of Tamaki fan art and barely any of Maki. And I saw the one Daos posted and didn't post it, since I thought it was ugly.
  8. Ep 325 - Ep 326 -
  9. Not just that he has the best suit, but he's obviously far more skilled and talented than any of those jokers that were jealous of him. He could probably do better than them in the worst suit available!
  10. See, that was never explained before now. Especially given the earlier engagement, the Zeon ships easily destroyed the Federation ships and then blew up a colony. It made it seem like Zeon had better ships, too. Better everything.
  11. I think Demarco and co. like Gundam more than it's an actual viable property. Can't say I have paid too close attention to ratings in a while, but if it is doing that well, that surprises me. Well IBO S2 was crap, so that probably didn't help. I suppose you're right, especially if it's only 4 episodes. I thought Gundam peaked with Wing and G and the other stuff on Toonami, back then, then crashed, then the Sunrise embargo which did not help things. I remember back in the early days when it first came over, Toyfare was doing lots of features on the action figures and model kits. In later years Gundam more or less evaporated here, is what I thought. But I mean, Hollywood makes movies of obscure stuff all the time. Just because a Gundam movie is being made doesn't prove Gundam is still a big deal in the States. And just personally speaking, I have not liked most of the shows. I remember having the TV on Gundam Wing long enough to hear "deploy the mobile dolls!" and then switched it off. There was one series with a cliche storyline about characters on opposite sides of the war falling in love. I tried to watch the series that was on Syfy but couldn't stand more than a few minutes of it because it was so annoying. I remember Amuro being an annoying crybaby in the original series, but Banagher was that on steroids, plus the storyline of Unicorn was just needlessly convoluted and dumb. So far the only shows I have liked were G Gundam, and the first season of IBO. IBO S2 shat the bed. It doesn't get much more compelling than every character getting randomly gunned down by goons! At least Origin seems pretty decent so far, probably because Amuro is barely in it. And just the general things I don't like about Gundam - annoying and/or unlikable characters, ham-fisted overly preachy with its messages. I never really liked the mobile suit designs that much, either. It's a shame, since I like robots/mecha, and spaceships, sci-fi, space operas, etc, so I wish I liked Gundam more, but ehh, it's got so many things in it that just grate on my nerves.
  12. Finally, another marathon? Are you serious? We'd like to have as little as possible! FFFFFF--Serenity now!
  13. Boooo! Yeah, the show is ending, but to do this with no relation to any holiday seems foolish and will derail the block! Also, what about how they are so close behind Japan with some of their shows? They want to screw that up and put themselves a week behind? FOOLS!
  14. Wait, I thought the marathon was for the finale? So they're actually doing a marathon the week before? What?
  15. AND SO THE QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED!
  16. Huh. Interesting. So that can't be one of the shows that fell through, then. You think the show is probably highly requested, right? But do we know what Demarco and co. think of it?
  17. We still haven't figured out why MHA got death-slotted like that. Sure, the episodes had been widely seen elsewhere for a while by then, right? But it wasn't even doing bad! And even way back there, it was beating just about everything that aired before it! We had originally theorized it was a political move of pettiness due to the deal Funimation made with Hulu. But then Toonami got Fire Force, so that seemed to debunk that theory. Either way, they had definitely better put the episodes at a better time if they get season 4! Those episodes will be much fresher!
  18. So then this means they won't just rerun Super at the front of the block? Thank Kami. I was afraid they would do that. I'd like to think they wouldn't do anything so foolish, wasteful, and lazy, but my confidence in the Toonami crew has been steadily eroded over the past few years.
  19. Fairy Tail is a long-runner, so it would have been continuously airing. It's really popular, too. Of course people kept requesting it. Hell, ASA should have been airing it before Toonami even came around. Tokyo Ghoul, bafflingly, has a very ardent fan base, who apparently would not stop pestering Demarco until he aired it. Then when it airs, what we hear from people is how you shouldn't even bother with the show and should just read the manga. I looked up wiki stuff on the manga, can't say the writing there sounds brilliant, either, even if things are apparently given more time to breathe and be better developed. Just look up all that Owl nonsense for a sample of what I'm talking about! I would really like to know how many total requests they are getting and from what sources, though, and if they are even tabulating them and counting them in any way, or just "eyeballing." Could be troll requests in some cases? Well, I just looked up Golden Kamuy. I must have been thinking of some other show. Banana Fish, not sure. Don't think people would request that one as a troll or joke. Like I said, we have no idea of the sample size or how they are even counting them. Demarco also flat out refused shows before, too. They said they wouldn't air Panty and Stocking. Was it because of content, or did Demarco just not like it? Can't imagine it's any worse than what we saw in Kill la Kill. He said no to Yugioh. I like it, but let's face it, we don't wanna skew that young! And he had remarked to someone who asked him why .hack was aired the way it was, and said something like he wouldn't have aired it anyway, because he hates it. So don't expect any .hack series to ever appear. So yeah, just because something is requested, doesn't mean it will air. It may not make it for content reasons, or Demarco and co. may veto it because they don't like it. I wouldn't put it past him. But I mean, a lot of these shows are popular, so stands to reason Demarco would like them too? That kind of goes against his supposed hipster-ness, though. At least he has that ITO CRED.
  20. That sounds great! Why did the show have to change animation studios? I would've thought, especially after waiting all this time, the show second season would have high production values. Hearing about animation downgrade depresses me. That was one of the best parts of season 1. Yeah I will watch it regardless, since I love the story and the characters. I just hope the animation isn't too bad. I have known fans to exaggerate with complaints before, so it wouldn't surprise if that were the case here, too.
  21. I hope they are a more compelling enemy than Naraku's poisonous insects! Oh, and I just found this picture! More Maki, please! I like Tamaki, but she's over-saturated. I like Maki more, she needs way more fan art, or even just some screen shots!
  22. We've long since stopped expecting great sense from the Toonami crew. ASA makes Toonami seem like geniuses, but that's not saying much. Demarco and co. still do a lot of stupid shit. I'm not super familiar with Ito, and I didn't see that other Ito anime, but, if what you say is true, then that throws more doubt into this series' success. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I really wouldn't put it past Demarco do yet another thing that doesn't make sense. Nice Balsa avatar, by the way.
  23. I don't know what reruns you're talking about, or what you're trying to say with that. But if viewers really balk at a show running at the front or in the middle of the block, which has happened at times, it can end up fucking over the rest of the shows that air after it. During particularly disastrous, baffling moves, like airing Attack on Titan reruns at the beginning of the block, that, along, with previous bonehead programming decisions leading up to it, ended up getting the block chopped in half. And who knows how much money they are spending on Uzumaki that could potentially be put to better use elsewhere. It better be good.
  24. https://variety.com/2019/digital/news/rooster-teeth-layoffs-13-percent-warnermedia-1203333556/ They actually fired 50 people. Don't think they would fire this guy, though? So not sure why he left. And he's not the CEO. The CEO is the guy that posted that message you linked to, Elfie. Rooster Teeth has gone corporate, it seems. Just look at how this message is written - https://roosterteeth.com/post/52071476 And yup, Demarco dun goofed again! How does Toonami always manage to stumble into these situations?
  25. They don't even know if shows are dubbed or not? Seriously? That's some crack team we've got there. More like a team on crack. Still, I can't see how Demarco could like the show, when the fan service is all over the place in it. It's not exactly a minor thing or infrequent at all. There's much better shows they could have come up with to "fill a slot for a while." Sounds like this show is... filler. Heh. There was fan service in the first two Fire Force episodes also. Yeah watching a 1-3 episodes for most shows to get an idea of them is probably okay with most shows.
