  1. Looks like I am going to have to watch MHA via DVR later. There's still one match left on this AEW Fyter Fest show. Nearly escaped me that it was coming on today. If I hadn't read a Lords of Pain article that mentioned it offhand last night, I would have missed it.
  2. I said that as a joke, referring back to how people used to lose their shit and say Toonami was dying over every littlest thing. But right now? It's not looking good. Do they have any sort of game plan once Super ends?
  3. If this is how they treat My Hero Academia, what the fuck are they going to do once Super ends?
  4. Why did you post the SAO topical? And hey, I guess it is still getting topicals after all! Is CabooseJr just dragging his feet or something?
  5. Food Wars was not the first show I would have picked, but it seems intriguing and amusing at least, from what little I know of it, and I'm willing to give it a chance. But it's hard to be excited with this MHA demotion putting a downer on things, and just watching the block in general.
  6. We got some of the booklets from Nielsen a few years ago. At the time, I made sure to write down everything I watched, and watched the whole Toonami block, even the reruns. Ultimately, we weren't chosen to become a Nielsen family, for whatever reason. I guess we weren't what they were looking for. I do think the system is outdated. You could easily track what every viewer is watching through cable companies, cable boxes, etc, I'm sure. The only issue would be privacy concerns, but people give up way more than that just using the internet, let alone social media, and I think people would jump at the chance to have their views count. But instead we rely on this archaic method. We used to talk a lot about the "schedule monkeys" of ASA, how the schedule would be messed with constantly, seemingly with little to no logic applied to the changes. One of the big pluses about Toonami taking over was this was going to be a thing of the past, and Demarco has even mentioned in the past many times how changing up the schedule too much messes with ratings. And yet they pull crap like this? Honestly they are on their way to being as incompetent as ASA ever was, if they aren't already.
  7. Sounds like Demarco is talking out of both sides of his ass! It's really not a good look to blame the fans like that. I would say Demarco is turning into the Vince McMahon of anime, but even Vince isn't enough of an unthinking asshole to blame fans for declining ratings. It's your responsibility to put on an engaging product to get people to watch. And, if you can't survive because of a changing world, what with streaming and all, then, well, it's survival of the fittest. That again, isn't the fans' fault. Remember when Toonami was the cutting edge thing out there? *shakes head* And if My Hero Academia wasn't doing well enough, isn't demoting it all the way to the end of the block overkill? It definitely comes off as some kind of pettiness over souring relations with Funimation. Which, is really stupid. Cut yourself off from Funimation and you cut yourselves off from the bulk of the available anime. People mentioned that Funimation doesn't promote Toonami airings of their shows at conventions or at social media. Do Funimation voice actors tweet during the airings like the ones for other shows do? This doesn't make Demarco look much better. It wasn't the Toonami crew's call, but he doesn't even know why the decision was made? So, that's either a sign of incompetence, that there's that much of a lack of communication and cohesion at Adult Swim, or he just doesn't give enough of a shit to find out, was I'm sure he could if he wanted to, either way.
  8. So, what you're saying is... TOONAMI IS DYING!
  9. Does Log Horizon have an ending, since the author got in trouble for tax evasion? Either way, just because you don't like SAO, doesn't mean there's not an audience left for that genre of series. It's popular and has done well for Toonami. So if anything SAO having been on the block so much could create more interest for Log Horizon. Don't know much about those other shows and haven't heard of at least one of them. I hope the theory Poke had about this being a package deal is true.
  10. Well, I think we can all safely say that no one predicted Toonami would get this. So, I guess this is one of the NON-ACTION shows Demarco was talking about? After Pop Team Epic. Was Food Wars heavily requested? I don't know much about Food Wars, but given what little I do know, and I think I skimmed a chapter or two, it should be... amusing, to say the least. Wait, it's going to last over a year?! I dunno, man.
  11. Are you talking about watches as subs or watches as dubs? Some people will wait for dubs, some won't, some will watch both, others won't care. Anime is more popular and mainstream now, but I think dubs are still what gets the majority of casual, passive viewers, as you call them. Only reason I ever watch something subbed first is if it's a show I'm already following and I don't want to wait, but then I'll still watch the dub. Even then, I almost watched SAO and JoJo subbed after looking into them and recommendations from a friend, before they aired on Toonami, only for Toonami to shortly get them thereafter, so that was pretty good timing for me. I watched the later seasons of SAO subbed first though, and re-watched the dub on Toonami. For JoJo I've just been watching it on Toonami. But yeah we all know Toonami is a day late and a dollar short, Demarco constantly dropping the ball not just with show picks, but when he gets them. Maybe if he would prioritize what's hot over what he personally likes, like Gundam, things would go better. Although it's entirely possible they are getting the shows as quickly as they can, I don't know. Some shows we've seen have had very quick turnaround, like SAO and Attack on Titan. It would seem they aren't able to pull that off with every show, though. I know I don't watch a lot of stuff before it gets to Toonami because I don't have time (I have other hobbies besides anime,) or prefer to watch dubbed in most cases.
  12. And this time it was actually relevant to the discussion and not yet another reach for Al to come up with an excuse to talk about it! That said, it was a different time, and a different block. The block was longer then, packed with more shows, so airing something at 3 or later looks much worse now. Might have been possible they put it there to easier work around the odd run times? Everything after Hellsing was reruns.
  13. Hell, we didn't even see him DIE! There's been tons of times where we've seen characters in shonens take what we thought and probably should have been fatal wounds, only to turn out to have survived. We didn't even see what happened with Norman!
  14. Yeah I was about to say it's dead here again lol. I have no idea! Usually if a website has a no hot-linking policy (not sure how common those are nowadays,) that "no hot-linking!" page/image would appear/load in it's place, and not just a dead image/link. Administrator fucking with things I guess. She's been doing lots of illicit things with the programming!
  15. Yes I know. Did you read what I said? His post was first, yes, but he had a typo. I say he still wins it I think. The p in psword silent!
  16. I'm using Chrome, up-to-date, but I'm using an ancient, low-end PC. Phone is old too, Samsung Galaxy S5. Haven't updated Chrome on the phone in a while because I'm afraid of losing the tons of tabs I have open. Good thing I saved it before then!
  17. Do you still win even though you had a typo?
  18. Black Clover Page 76 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, Mimosa's brother Kirsch, Sol, and Finraal managed to succeed in their match against expectations and through unorthodox techniques. Kirsch was actually helpful and was able to win over Sol and Finraal? Is Kirsch not as bad as we thought, despite being a weirdo and a bit of an asshole, or is he using some sort of spell to charm his teammates? And will the Royal Knight selection go from here? Find out tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami!
  19. EPISODE 22 DISCUSSION
  20. Oh man, I didn't even notice how funny Jean's face looks when she hits him right there in the clip. It's way more obvious in this gif! And she calls him a horse-faced jerk!
  21. Oh yeah, that whole scene is funny actually! Hitch nodding along. Jean saying he doesn't trust Marlowe because of that bowl cut. Hitch not realizing it was a test and whacking Jean with the stick!
  22. That was symbolic ghost Norman, whatever you call that, encouraging Emma. He wasn't in the next shot, and you see Emma's reaction. Unless I saw that wrong. I'm still not convinced he's really dead though.
  23. I remember that part I think, but why was Hitch doing that? Freaking out?
