Yami is pretty great, yeah. And I like his almost 4th wall level mockery of everyone and everything in the show. I was gonna say, there are a lot of fire users in this series for you to lust after. You know you want Mereoleona to grab you by the head with one of her fire paws and throw you around. 😧 Gauche, like many of the other characters, is meant to be an over-the-top turned up to 11 parody of his character type. Unfortunately, that results with a really gross and creepy pedo incest character, in this case. Though I don't know if we're meant to sympathize with or root for him. He may be on the side of the good guys but that doesn't mean he is a good person. The other Black Bulls have voiced on multiple occasions how they don't like his behavior. I had hoped Gauche would act more normal after his arc where we got his backstory, but alas... Hey now, Black Clover is actually better than Naruto, if you think about it. Asta and Yuno are actually believable and convincing as genuine best friends, and rivals, and this is pulled off in just a handful of episodes, when Naruto can't do this for its entire run. Naruto and Sasuke's relationship consists of them being little shits to each other and Sasuke being an asshole the whole time, 3 whole "friendship moments" the show constantly flashes back to and the characters constantly saying they are best friends. So it makes Naruto come off as either crazy or gay when he loses his shit over Sasuke leaving when their relationship was more like a coworker he was casually friendly with. And Sasuke isn't sympathetic at all as someone you want Naruto "save from himself," much less make that plot point go on for so long or be one of the end goals of the series.

What's weirder is doujins seem to be few and far between lately. There's little to none for more recent series or recent arcs for ongoing series. I'm not sure if maybe some laws were changed that made it harder to make "parody" works? But that shouldn't stop individual fan artists from Japan or anywhere else!
