Seriously? So it was a separate rights thing. Did Demarco say that? I wonder if the delay was them trying to get the special. You know things like this aren't great for retaining viewership. People will be confused and go watch the thing they missed, and many will just watch the rest and not bother with the TV airing. Remember when they told people to go watch all the One Piece episodes they skipped? 🤣 It has been so long since the last season aired, I just figured I forgot who this pirate guy was and didn't recognize him in a new outfit. But then I didn't remember anyone with Bakugo's voice actor. Then I thought maybe whoever it was behaved more low-key before and so the VA had to act more over the top now and that's when the Bakugo voice came out. 🤣

Thanks. Yeah I was about to get in the shower and figured I'd be done before midnight so I'm glad I checked the schedule and time again before I did that haha. There was a whole movie?! I figured like a 30 minute thing. I hope this new guy doesn't act this obnoxious the whole time. And we just added a bunch of characters before this.

Damn it. I missed the first 6 minutes because when I checked the schedule I thought the show was starting at 12 central. I assumed Food Wars got booted 30 minutes later haha. For some reason YouTube TV wouldn't let me rewind. Obnoxious. What happened before the OP? I guess this is what happens when there's a show drought for so long, even though I heard Dr. Stone was coming, I wasn't confident of that at all and didn't think it would air any time soon. And who the hell is the pirate guy? I don't remember him from whatsizface's army or the village or Senku's group.

I don't know how much advertising help them, given that the places they could advertise won't be seen by the people who need to see it, anyway. It's not like you're going to see Toonami ads on Crunchyroll or Hulu. I don't think I've ever seen a Toonami ad on a website. There are still people who even still watch regular TV who think Toonami is dead and never came back. Those viewers are lost to them. At this point, they should focus on keeping their current viewers happy, and they aren't doing a great job at that! Yes, get ANYTHING! That is a stupid thing to complain about. We should be happy they get ANYTHING, which they can't even do that. To me, it would be even more of a letdown if it's some show I never heard of and doesn't appeal to me. And even if it did appeal to me, I don't see how an "unknown" lives up to hype for most people. In fact, I remember people losing their shit when Kekkaishi was picked up instead of 3 other popular shows fans wanted Adult Swim to get back then, and the show was unfairly maligned on the boards because of it. It would be nice to have something to watch, but that doesn't mean it will live up to hype. The only stuff that could live up to this hype would have been Bleach: TYBW, Gundam: Witch From Mercury, shows of that tier, and they can't get the latter. I agree they should focus on getting what they can, instead of holding out for their "wishlist," as you guys said, some of which they may never be able to get anyway. Yes, Sketch, that is just the issue. A similar thing has been said about companies in general, who were unable to react and adapt to covid and the supply chain issues. These were companies that were used to things being done a certain way for a long time, and always having a clear, open road in front of them. Then when something goes wrong, they don't know how to react to it. Demarco was used to getting those good deals from Funimation, Aniplex (is there an issue with them now too, they were always part of Sony,) Viz (don't know why they would be a problem now) and now they don't know how to handle it. Remember when Demarco said they had made changes and had plans in place so this show drought wouldn't happen again this year? LOL.

Well, the other argument was, the Mermaid should stay white because the original fairy tale author was Danish, and the argument against, is there's nothing intrinsically "Dutch" about the story (I sure never noticed, myself,) like other legends and fairy tales that very much reflect certain cultures and where you wouldn't want to put in other ethnicities that wouldn't fit (like Moana or whatever.) And it's just gone on and on. One thing that was sort of jarring for me was that series that put in a black Guenivere. We're so used to seeing just white people in those old fantasy stories, but also the King Arthor stories are from and about medieval England, where I'm pretty sure most of the people were white, and certainly any nobles and royals would have been. Although the rest of that series (think it was called Merlin) did not look appealing anyway. I still say the movie Excalibur is THE King Arthur movie. The production and costumes, epic score, classical British actors (including Patrick Stewart!), it can't be beat! That movie from a while back called King Arthur about the possible real Arthur fighting against the Roman Empire was pretty good, too. I heard the new Lord of the Rings series tried to solve this problem and only made it worse, since the white elves are higher ranked over the other elves and also genocidal against the Orcs (who I guess are an actual race and not just evil creatures haha.) Lord of the Rings isn't an ancient or even medieval story, so I can see that being made more diverse logically (plus the world is totally made up and not medieval England,) but it obviously wasn't handled well haha. Here is the video I saw about it - I don't agree with all the criticism given about the original Lord of the Rings, but this new series definitely didn't seem to help matters! Little Mermaid is part of the Disney Renaissance along with Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Lion King, so it's regarded pretty highly, but that doesn't mean everyone will be a huge fan.

They were mad that the Mermaid is black and recently even making arguments it wouldn't make sense for a Mermaid to develop dark skin under water where little to no sunlight can reach. But then other people gave examples of dark colored fish LOL. I don't know if mermaids' coloration is like fish scales, which can be anything, or melanin based like humans (for at least the humanoid top half,) but the "debate" has gotten more ridiculous the longer it's gone on, as you can see. Of course, some of the detractors were straight up racist. And now there's an argument over lyrics being changed. I think "kiss the girl" was changed. Not like Eric wasn't being manipulated or tricked by Ursula. I sure never got an impression that Aeriel was being forced to be with Eric in the old movie. Hell, if anything, Eric was the reward for her, not the other way around! This stuff gets very tiresome after a while. I doubt the movie will be earth shattering or anything, so all this arguing won't amount to anything, when all is said and done. And of course, the original movie will still exist. I honestly never watched any of these remakes because I heard they were basically exactly the same, except in live action (with a few changes.)
