Actually Jason, Gill, and the others all love One Piece and said "no one has gone to bat for One Piece more than we have," which means it would probably have been canceled many times over if not for them. So, this is likely the best treatment One Piece is going to get. The Powers That Be only allow Toonami to continue to air it because it airs in such a low value slot that it doesn't matter if it does poorly. It'd probably have to get like 400k total viewers on a regular basis to get axed. I agree the 4Kids introduction was not fair. Though I will add myself and plenty of others got introduced to the show that way and still loved it. And if it was a failure they wouldn't have aired all the 4Kids episodes and even some Funimation episodes. But I think even without 4Kids, a good amount of people would still just see One Piece as "kiddy" and "gay." It's lighthearted and silly at times, doesn't take itself too seriously. Besides that, there's the art style. It looks like a cartoon. Doesn't really look like anime. A lot of anime fans want their anime to look like anime. So yeah, since One Piece looks like that, and has that character, and isn't "cool", a good deal of people aren't going to be open to it. I mean, hell, you've seen what's popular here lately. Edgelord nonsense like Akame Ga Kill, and Attack on Titan with its constantly angry I HATE EVERYTHING AND WANT TO KILL EVERYTHING Eren Jaeger. Maybe these people would've liked One Piece if Luffy did things like ramming his fist through somebody and then activating Third Gear to inflate that arm and make them explode. :

What plot? This show has been Gon Dicks Around And Makes Friends The Show. Of what did "occur," most was of little interest. I will grant that the moment Killua had with Illumi was good, but that was followed up by a whole lot of nothing. There's Kurapika, Leorio, and Hisoka... three decent characters, but they're saddled with, well, being in Hunter x Hunter. Which means they'll appear sporadically and not have much to do even when they are onscreen. They're too good for this show, honestly. Instead of showing them, we must focus on Gon and Killua (and the audience) finally learning how the powers of the show work 30-something episodes in, long after anybody gave a shit, from two characters that are dismally boring and have more boring character designs than background Leaf Village citizens. Like seriously, how the fuck is that kid a character? He's such an awful nothing character. In any other anime, he'd last one episode, if not one scene. But nope, here, he's a recurring character! Seriously, more happens to one-off InuYasha "guest stars" than has happened to the characters in this entire show. Think of that Nobunaga guy, for instance. And if Togashi was writing InuYasha - This kid would be in an entire arc, and not just a small part of one episode.

If Toonami had more days I'd say One Piece should come on at least four times a week. *sigh*

What in the blue hell? Who moved this thread? Going by this logic, any show past or present, that's been on Toonami, can't be discussed in the Anime folder. There's still threads over there pertaining to "Toonami shows," by the way, and not just the ones I made about Bleach (which are still there, even as this one was arbitrarily moved). So, we just move threads at the whims of trolls, now? I had my reasons for posting this where I did. It's true that Bleach, at least the last part of it, aired on Toonami, but with the Toonami Folder we don't really talk about legacy shows that much. It's mostly for talking about current things airing and going on with Toonami. What's more, the Toonami users will show up in the Anime Folder, but you don't see the Anime Folder people much in the Toonami Folder, so it would get more traffic and be more relevant for this thread to remain where it was. So, I again question the logic of this decision.

I didn't quit the boards. In the last thread(s) I was in, I said I was dropping Babbling and taking a break from the boards in general until the next regular block aired. Since it was the holidays and there would be two weeks of marathons I wouldn't have to watch (or comment on), it was as good a time as any to take a break to cool off and maybe try to act better on here, and IRL.

Something I noticed... why do King Kai and his pals still have halos if they were brought back by Shenron?

By the way, I was thinking, Launch disappeared because Toriyama forgot about her. But since he's conscious of her now, could she return in Super? At the end of Dragonball, it was implied that she was going to hook up with Tien. Or do you think it would look even worse to have a character reappear eons later with no explanation for why they disappeared in the first place?

Probably won't have some of that semi-3D cgi stuff, which I wasn't really sure about, myself. Well, Kai wasn't, and Final Chapters won't be, "new content", either, so it's all good. 8) Dragonball is Dragonball! But I'm glad it's only like 27 episodes and not 50 or 60 or something, haha. Hahahaha. Well, like I said, I'm a Dragonball junkie, so you know I will. I enjoyed every episode of the original DBZ and never felt it was "slow", either, haha. I remember when I first saw Bleach and Ichigo's training would be in 1-3 episodes, or a short flashback, and I was like O_O :D :D

Though I gotta' say such a concept sounds fun and I look forward to it!

So it's not the same as the movie animation? I figured, Toei being Toei, they'd just recycle that and put in some new in-between stuff. The stuff this episode with Goku having to get a job and Goten and Trunks hijinks was legitimately fun, I thought, though. I saw Battle of Gods, but not Resurrection F. If that's redone in the series in similar manner there's probably no sense in me waiting to see it in Super form, then? Either way, you know I'm going to keep watching this, lol.

Yeah but it was total scorched earth policy. Itachi didn't spare anyone. We know how they have those Anbu and spies and shit, surely the Leaf Village knew which Uchihas were up to no good. So we're to believe they all were, then, or the Leaf leaders are just about on part with Central 46. And what "leaders" is Madara talking about? I thought the Hokage pretty much had ultimate power to do whatever they want. True. He never came off that way to me. Even the "happy times" they show with Sasuke and Itachi portray Itachi as a distant, emotionless prick who just sees his little brother as a disappointment and a nuisance. He was always shooing him away and poking him in the forehead. None of that came off as "tough love" or that he cared about Sasuke. Though I guess you have a point that this plot twist could've still been salvaged, have the Uchihas be bad, and we learn the Leaf Village isn't so squeaky-clean with their scorched earth policy on the Uchihas (I just find it impossible to believe that every single last one agreed with the coup), but Itachi is no better just for having killed some treasonous ninja... eeehhhh it could work, maybe. Of course, Kishimoto mangled it. Still not sure why he wanted to make Itachi more sympathetic, though. And I was fine with this whole plot point as it was. But, ah well.

Oh yeah, true. Itachi thing definitely screams random asspull, and a purposeless one, at that. I wonder if Madara was always going to be "still alive" or if that was an asspull, as well. The whole writing of that made no sense. Madara pretends to be a doofus to fool... his subordinates? Why? Up until then, Tobi had never even interacted with the heroes of the series. Then Kishimoto has him go back into Tobi mode for the Leaf Ninjas after we've already seen the reveal of him as Madara... and then be all SURPRISE I'M SUPER EVIL MADARA to them. That was all completely ass-backwards.

Well yeah, I understood all that. Hmm, but the Straw Hats didn't get all their shadows back, so maybe he just belched up the ones he sucked up last episode? Hmmmm.
