Hallmark channel, oof. The white woman entertainment channel, basically. And those movies are so corny, vacuous, and repetitive! Guh. And if it's the reality shows I'm thinking they are, I don't envy your position. Not KLK either? Odd for sure. Whenever I see a show up that I know has a dub, I assume the dub is there too. That's what I'm going to use the thread for DBZ4ever[/member] Wasn't sure where else to put this. From what I can tell, there is little to no interest in One Piece in the Anime folder. The discussion there would mainly be focused on current Japanese release episodes and chapters, anyway. Not the stuff from where Toonami left off. And though One Piece is no longer on Toonami, once a Toonami show, always a Toonami show, as far as I'm concerned. I've mentioned a few times that I managed to binge 385-417 in a single crab fishermen shift-level sitting. May as well post my thoughts on it while it's still somewhat fresh in my mind! Hmm, yeah, looks like that was a month ago, on August 17th-18th! Should've written it down in a document at the time. Actually... In August 2005, Lucas himself said of the Expanded Universe material: I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions. Not only that, but if anything George Lucas did contradicted the Expanded Universe, it would of course take precedence, and Lucas' sequel films weren't going to follow those books either. Also worth noting that Disney lets Lucasfilm do pretty much whatever they want and the people working there now are the same people who there before working with Lucas. And he personally selected Kathleen Kennedy as his successor. And I don't remember GT ever being canon...

You really should watch Battle of Gods, and Resurrection F too. They're much better than the sagas in the anime. The Frieza movie is also far kinder to Gohan as well. Well, it probably hurt Videl because she wasn't prepared. I imagine you have to be powered up to dodge/deflect bullets, and not in a relaxed state.

Didn't know Dragon Ball AF was an actual fan manga by an honest to god mangaka! Always thought it was just some fan art/fan fic thing fans came up with. But, Toriyama is full of shit to say he "always intended to Goku to be someone who just likes to fight strong guys." When we're first introduced to him he helps people constantly, and is pretty good at judging when someone is a bad guy and helping someone out that they victimize. The first time the Dragon Balls were used to revive someone was Bora, Upa's father who he had just met and befriended. He fought Red Ribbon Army largely to stop them from causing the world pain. He fought King Piccolo to avenge Krillin's death. When Raditz comes to earth, he tries to talk him into leaving, and ultimately fights him to save his son (and the earth). When Goku is fighting Frieza and losing, he has a vision of Freiza going to Earth and killing everyone he loves, which motivates him to get back in the fight. GOKU TURNS SUPER SAIYAN AFTER FREIZA KILLS HIS BEST FRIEND. He sacrifices himself to stop Cell from killing everyone! You can't chalk this all up to "anime changes," either. So yeah, Toriyama is full of shit here. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. Goku doesn't seem so bad in Super so far.

I don't think it considers GT canon on any level, but it might take inspiration from it. There were some genuinely creative and neat ideas in GT. I always figured they were that old because, well, it had been a long time since we saw them last and GT was many years since then. Yeah that would be funny, though, heh.

*googles* Oh what the fuck! Well, I didn't look into it closely. Maybe that Trunks is from a different timeline/dimension and that explains the hair color difference? Speaking of that, something that really bothered me about GT, is they not only couldn't get Trunks' hair color right either, but his personality was completely different, and not for the better. I always used to joke that he was an android doppelganger. I've also had someone try to tell me that Trunks hair isn't really purple/lavender, but was intended to be white/silver, and it just looked that way due to the color chosen, like how some characters with black hair looks "bluish."

I must have totally missed that in the movie and in the show. I understand that, but he's including Tights as the sister to one of the characters that's been around since the very beginning and we've never heard hair nor hide of her before now. The Dr. Slump crossover Goku basically went into another dimension, so it didn't affect anything, and it was fun. Tights is pointless and conflicts with the established story. By the way, this reminds me of something. There was an old story going around, guess it would be an urban myth, going by what we know now, that Toriyama wanted to finish Dr. Slump first, then he was going to go back and make more Dragon Ball. I assume there was never anything to this?

There's plenty of other stuff they could've played. Like, the second season of Ghost in the Shell. Big O Season 1 if they have it. Point is, nothing has been played as much as Bebop so literally anything else would be better in that slot. Not sure if you noticed but ad breaks don't tend to line up. And many channels will even synchronize them with others to prevent people from doing this very thing. Not everyone has to watch TV the same way as you, anyway, Top_Gun. Besides, I use the ads to make my posts. At least the time during Hiatus I can better spend reading the lulzness in the Tokyo Ghoul thread, but after that show ends...

Just finished watching the episode. Looks like this guy has the powers of The Blob! Watch out Goku! Jaco - "He's dispersing the blows and sending the energy to another dimension!" Bulma - "Do you really know that?" Dragon Ball making fun of its own bullshit technique commentary now. So he's so fat and heavy that he can't do anything if someone knocks him over or picks him up? Goku should have done this a long time ago! Not like the swing and throw has never been used in Dragon Ball before. So polite and friendly! And honorable! Goku says tells Frost to use full power while he's still fighting in his base form... That spinning hurricanrana was impressive, Frost! Final form my ass! :D :D Well, Goku never saw Xenomorph Frieza. Still, he should know better than this. So he does! Frost used his power to put an end to senseless wars and saves orphans! :D Super Saiyan 1 is still not your full power, Goku... That Universe 6 Saiyan looks like he is lying about not knowing about Super Saiyan. Alright this fight is getting good. Did Vegeta really just say "Goku" instead of "Kakarot?" If you have trouble controlling your final form, maybe you should train with it more? What the hell happened to Goku? Did Frost use some crazy paralysis technique? Did Goku catch some alien disease from Universe 6? Did his heart virus come back? Great episode! Can't wait to see the rest of the tournament! Should be especially interesting given Goku has been eliminated.

I kinda was, yes. Now I have to change the channel TWICE. Once for Hiatus and again for Bebop. I'm not a channel surfer, and I don't switch to something else during commercials, because I don't want to miss anything. I won't even watch a movie if it's already started, in the rare case I do watch a movie on TV these days, given the editing, and the fact I can get them elsewhere. I like to sit there and watch something beginning to end. They've stopped my ability to do that with Toonami. Oh and Jack is gone, lul. That's what they get for trying to run THAT into the ground. This brain trust never learns a damn thing.

Oh, definitely. Well, not the worst time. The writing had been on the wall for a while, so it was nice of them to let One Piece stay long enough to finish out Thriller Bark. And 385 was a perfect send-off so I'm pretty sure it was intentional. Good to hear. Sounds like a plan!
