It honestly feels that way to me a lot of the time. Asta is this loud, hyper, annoying kid who is obsessed with becoming the Wizard King. Even the other characters are highly annoyed by him. He's the typical oblivious and clueless shonen protagonist, but to the ridiculous point he has vowed to marry a fucking nun, but doesn't notice multiple, available women taking a liking to him. In this episode, Asta said he would be friends with the snow guy after he realized what an awful person he was being, and got done doing some soul searching. Like literally minutes before this the guy was torturing children. Not even Naruto or Luffy would be that forgiving. Noelle is a tsundere to such a cartoonish degree that she argues with herself, not just out loud, but in inner monologue, and was threatened that a six year old said she wanted to marry Asta! I mean, come on! Asta now has multiple excitable people declaring themselves his rival. The rest of the Black Bulls are mostly 1-dimensional joke characters, but I have to give credit for them developing Gauche into an actual person, and even having him grow and decide to help others besides his sister and act some semblance of normal. Maybe he won't do the nose bleed thing anymore and we can chalk up the way he was early on as the author not quite ironing his character out yet, and going too far with a joke to the point of creepiness. I mean, stuff like what I mentioned definitely comes off as parody, but Black Clover has honest stuff about it too, so I don't know, maybe it is a parody, and like you said, didn't go far enough to make it obvious. Of course, just because it's a parody doesn't mean it can't have genuine story and character development, adventures, etc. but you know what I mean.

I was wrong about only seeing the Aloha-Oe using it's beam in the library episode. We get a decent shot of it here in "normal" art style. Bea betrayal. We saw a hint of his true nature in the library episode when he was visibly angry over Dandy "ruining everything."

I get what the author was going for. Gauche was supposed to be a joke parody of sis-con characters. But he went overboard with it. It's a fine line to tow. Miroku, for example, comes off as charming and funny, and not creepy somehow. But in this case it doesn't work. So even going as far to develop Gauche to explain his behavior doesn't salvage him completely.

Pretty sure Asta was able to use the magic-borrowing sword at any time. Or is this a different sword? That was like a Naruto shadow clone moment. Be his friend? Come the fuck on, Asta! No not the nun! It's the Eye of the Midnight Sun leader!

Ew, more creepy nobles. Arranged their parents' deaths and changed their will to get all of their money and possessions, then booted the kids... So he went to prison for stealing food for his sister. Ok so all of this explains a lot about Gauche, but not the nosebleed and other pedo-rific behavior. I know it's supposed to be a joke but eh. I knew Marie would turn him around. He went back! Character development! Gauche you are one cynical motherfucker.

But they can't all fit on his back at once, old lady! What did he say? Yes because he was such a good person when he was "himself." That power didn't look feeble to me! The kids need to stop playing with that cat and show a sense of urgency.
