  1. The original ThunderCats looked pretty cat-like, maybe even too much. I thought the 2011 series struck a good cat/person balance. These new ThunderCats' ears don't even look like cat ears. More like rabbit ears or insect wings. They don't have cat eyes or any other cat features either really. Yeah lmao. I still can't get over how he looks. Must be some kinda' serious safe space bubble wherever he lives and works that he's not getting routinely mocked. Star actually seemed somewhat appealing to me, whereas Stephen Universe is just annoying. Gravity Falls is annoying too. Never got around to watching Star though. Seems like pretty bottom of the barrel scenarios they are going for here, yeah. Demarco claimed there weren't enough kids watching the 2011 series, though I'm not sure how true that is. But yeah the toys were crap I heard. I can't see such squat figures of Roar characters being very dynamic. Are toys even in the pipeline?
  2. Yup the good thing about this is I can check out early. No killing time while Bebop is on. Now the only timeslot I have to dodge is Hiatus.
  3. Because running Bebop into the ground, running Gundam that most Americans don't care about, and making unnecessary, unwanted sequels with no original team involvement because you're an obsessed fanboy, sure is a sign of knowing how to program a television block. The only reason Toonami's ratings are being tolerated are because CN and AS's ratings are way down themselves. Demarco is slowly being marched to the firing squad by the likes of Netflix and Hulu. Change and adapt, or die. It's survival of the fittest. And Demarco thinks the answer is FLCL!
  4. The thing is most of those adults grew up with Nintendo games or videogames of some kind, and they can still be enjoyed by adults. There's no reason for any supposed grown men to take interest in My Little Pony. I don't even know of any grown women who would've grown up with the old Ponies that give a shit about it. Even then, there's a difference between liking a little girls' show and being obsessed with it and shouting from the rooftops about how it changed your life. I'm just glad that fad is dead and the show has no relevance anymore.
  5. I don't get your thinking with this. Power levels don't make you invulnerable to weapons. Lots of warriors used weapons in the series before. Obviously a weapon by itself can't do anything. It's all in the hands of the person who uses it. Maybe they could send their chi into the weapon and around it, but I dunno', I think you are way overthinking this. Goku extended energy around his finger... It's also possible for people to block swords with their hands in real life, mind you, if you know what you're doing.
  6. You know that was meant as a joke, right? Launch shot Roshi, Goku, and Krillin full of bullet holes at one point. Actually, it was Mai's dumbass that came up with it. Raditz caught a bullet and threw it back at the farmer. Saiyaman would catch or dodge bullets. That implies a use of superhuman reflexes and chi, not a bullet proof body. Point is, they aren't bullet proof, but because of awareness and reaction time, it most likely won't work anyway. The only characters I can think of that are would be the androids, which kinda makes sense. Yes the limitation was removed after it was rebuilt after Buu destroyed it. I don't see how that's any different than the Dragons' limitations being monkeyed with.
  7. Oh, so she's what wrought that abomination upon the world. She's no better than Pebbles Boy then.
  8. The only person I remember flipping out over it was Ranlsa, which doesn't say much. "This isn't the Cheetara I pretended to be in the backyard when I was a little girl!" Whatever that means. Most people from what I saw enjoyed the show and were upset when it was canceled. It did improve on the original unlike that friend of the showrunner seems to think Roar is doing LOL. And if anyone really did think the 2011 series looked like shit they aren't worth taking seriously either.
  9. I think that's the point. There's no reason for kids to watch action cartoons when they have Superhero movies. And I would argue they are at least kid friendly, even if anyone could enjoy them. Lots of kids bummed out by Infinity War though lol. Who is Lauren Faust anyway?
  10. I'm pretty sure it was just from nearby planets, and what was left on Namek. Looks like I was right, from what Daos posted.
  11. I told you guys he looked like a face-punchable douche! Even Bayley would be ashamed of that ponytail!
  12. Don't give Demarco any ideas. And wtf is going on with "Jet?"
  13. There were action cartoons in the 90's and into the 2000's too. I think the theory is that action cartoons have been supplanted by things like the Marvel movies and videogames. As for the visuals I have no clue. Seems like chasing trends to me. A bunch of shows copied each other. There was a bunch of stuff like Flapjack, Adventure Time, and Regular Show, very similar to each other. Now Stephen Universe is being aped. The last of the Mohicans of action cartoons would seem to the the Star Wars animated series. Resistance is about fighter pilots and is apparently anime-inspired, which sounds pretty cool. Maybe the Marvel cartoons, but I think the last one I saw was Spectacular Spider-Man, not sure about the more recent ones.
  14. It is shortsighted and self-defeating to look at it that way for sure. But Cartoon Network's ratings have been way down for a while, so I guess kids don't even like these shows either.
  15. He could remember it from Toonami's reruns. And yeah the old ThunderCats has some silliness to it to it for sure, but it wasn't that bad. He can talk about making a remake that improves on the original, but it sure as fuck isn't this. ThunderCats 2011 was that show. Yup he is towing the company line for sure. He obviously can't just admit its shittiness so he should have just kept his mouth shut.
  16. I'll definitely try to watch it soon and try not to get side-tracked. Easier to commit to watch one movie than a series anyways. I wonder if the show is hard to get, in a licensing hell of sorts. Or just expensive. I mean when it was OVA length it made sense to avoid it.
  17. Oh well it probably has a very outside shot then. They love GitS but movies are a rarity these days except in special circumstaces. Wow really? Pretty sure I didn't see it, but I guess I would know for sure if I go and watch it. Supposedly they played the Bebop movie once before as well, but I don't recall seeing that either.
  18. I didn't watch the GitS live action on principle, due to the whitewashing. Doesn't sound like I missed much anyway.
  19. I would rather they got back a classic like Outlaw Star or something. Obviously rerunning another one of their beat to death shows from their "library" would be much worse than running Lupin Part IV. Plus it's way too recent to re-watch at this point. Of course Bebop still airs due to Demarco's needing it to constantly be around as some form of security blanket. Yes, that would be considered a disk defragmention of the block, cutting the chaff from the wheat, Naraku discarding his weak demons, etc. These reruns water down the block and make it look bad. If it were more recent shows, showing Toonami has a real library, it would be worthwhile. Even though I'm not personally interested in re-watching Lupin right now it makes more sense than a lot of other things they could do. They didn't make the mistake of immediately running it right after it ended, and it's not one of their old shows they've run into the ground. But, this is just an outlier. So maybe it's not so bad after all, but nothing to write home about because as I said I don't expect this to be a new pattern. They probably just got a good deal or it was already in the contract for a rerun. I don't see them going to great efforts to do more of this in the future.
  20. Why a marathon before? And I didn't know they ever showed it before. I still haven't seen that movie. I need to check that out. Makes sense to do so soon as well with Second Gig fresh in my mind. Yeah agreed.
  21. Dude, the guy said he hates the old show and is changing it to the way he would like. Come the fuck on.
  22. It's just another sign of more cracks in the foundation.
  23. Who suggested the showrunner should kill himself?
  24. What's with the apple? That submarine officer looks like Duke. LOL Ishikawa just clocks him. That sexist dinosaur Takakura pegged Kayabuki wrong, and got put in his place. Ameri-Soviet Union? Wut? Lol EU is canon apparently. Didn't think it existed when this was written. Surprised they are still around in this universe in any case. That was the Tachikomas singing? They left it in Japanese. What were they saying I wonder? RIP Tachikomas. What kind of nonsensical penal code is it where you can't be charged if you turn yourself in? Goda smug and full of himself right up to the end. Then Major just blows him away! God that was satisfying! Oh no they got Kuze! Did that guy break into the vehicle he was being held in? One last crane... Thought for sure Proto died. Guess not. Puchikomas? Looks like the AI on them was kept pretty basic. What was Bato going to say? Great ending but still potential for more I think.
  25. The good music is playing. Motoko Kusanagi isn't her real name? Looks like she figured out who he is but he hasn't figured who she is, though he realizes they do have some things in common. Why is Motoko hugging Kuze? So the Major feels she can open up to Bato. Cool. Bato with a cross. But why? Didn't the Tachikomas already sacrifice themselves in part 1? GOOOOODAAAAAA!
