Before they abandoned their strict design principles I'd say there was some value to things being nice, neat and optimized but they don't really care anymore. And there is something appealing to me about a company having complete control over it's hardware and software even tho I also like the anarchy of PCs and androids. Lately the only stand out thing I really like about apple is that they won't unlock your devices even if the US government wants them to. That's pretty cool
