Man, these discussion threads are comin' later all the time, aren't they...
Anyway, I was inspired by this show to try my hand at making my own baklava ('cause no one's gonna go to the effort to make it gluten-free for retail sale) and proved successful with it this afternoon. It's nowhere near the quality of Skinner's grandma's baklava, but it's decent enough for a hobbyist cook's first try. Tastes pretty good, too!
No "special punch bowl", though. The half-assed mint julep I made for Derby Day's kicking my ass bad enough already.
