The "what if anime studios were people" video was fun, even if it got 2 of Diomedea's 3 listed productions completely wrong, but his "bad CG" video was really obnoxious. I think I saw one or two Mother's Basement videos but don't remember them well, I'd like to see fellow former ASMBer RogerSmith2004's videos but I'll need to get used to his higher-pitch-than-I-expected voice first (no offense if you're reading this, Roger), and Digibro means nothing to me so naturally my response to his bullshit is pure apathy.

Let's move away from all this negativity for a moment and think about some of the more positive aspects. Like the spectulation on how Bang Zoom would've dubbed Endless Eight back when Season 2 got licensed. They ultimately dubbed it straight, but it was fun hearing some of the ideas, plus those actually bounced around BZ. My favorite was someone saying that they should've had one episode make the characters treat the show as if it were Bleach. I actually would've liked that idea, because the VAs all fit. Itsuki as Ichigo, Yuki as Rukia, Mikuru as Orihime, and Haruhi as Tatsuki/Yoruichi. And as Crispin Freeman is a union VA and therefore never appeared in Bleach, Kyon would be stuck all episode wondering what the hell they're all talking about.

BLACK CLOVER - One of my favorite things about Pierrot is the fact that everyone complains about them being a QUALITY studio when much of the QUALITY actually comes from their taste in outsourcers, and their in-house episodes at least 50% of the time are competently made and sometimes well-animated. I don't speak for everyone but I do make a fair point when I say that Gauche was at his least worst this episode. And oh wow, some of these characters are showing up much earlier than I expected them to. NARUTO SHIPPUDEN - You know what's more painful than watching an edgy episode of Shippuden? Watching an edgy episode of Shippuden while your sister is talking all sweet and diabetes-inducing to your new cat in literally the next room. That said, I'm alright with Naruto's reason for thinking of Sasuke as his friend (even if it isn't entirely believable in real-life terms), and I doubt he would've gone through with his revenge plans were he to actually think up of one that wasn't totally in line with his immaturity. I also spent most of the episode taking note of some of the more technical aspects of the episode's specific direction for reasons you can read about under some of the spoiler tags in the Anime Watching thread, and I'll say, the director did good for an outsourcing episode, flashback usage notwithstanding.

MY HERO ACADEMIA - Watched this episode yesterday night to kill time before turning in, so yeah, this'll be my first time rewatching an MHA episode since the honestly kind of off-putting first. I have a feeling opening narration is gonna start being a thing. Well, at least he's muttering with only one other person in the room. This dude's voice is deeper than I expected, but hey, anyone who thinks Bakugo's an ass is good in my book. ...You think everyone hates your class - everyone - just because two people don't happen to think that highly of you, or rather, highly of Bakugo. Do you not realize how stupid your hyperbole sounds? These flashbacks melting into one another is too different for me. LET'S MONTAGE THIS SHIT UP. I knew what I was getting into with Endless Eight, so when I watched it with my uncle, we spent a good amount of time riffing the hell out of it with some of the same jokes. I also liked how even though the events were pretty much the same, the animation was different for all eight episodes. The shot of Kyon rotating from the POV of the clock's second hand on the last day of one of the loops is my favorite shot from the whole eight episodes.

Feels good to have both your mature superhero wives show up in one episode. Now to wait until they interact...

I'm sure a lot of you have already heard this news through the designated thread on this board, the article discussion on ANN, et cetera, but I feel this news is worth mentioning here. Another anime voice actor died recently. On Monday, Unshou Ishizuka passed away due to esophageal cancer. As one would naturally guess, he's been in many series featured on AS and Toonami. Roles from said series include Jet Black, Old Joseph Joestar, Dr. Gel, Mr. Satan, Van Hohenheim, Alex Rosewater, Zabuza Momochi, McMurdo Barriston, Quent Yaiden, and even minor roles such as Brilliant Dynamites Neon, Carnage Kabuto, the Spirit of the Harkonnen, and Kuina's dad. In fact, the first three of those roles, we heard Ishizuka's original performance for this past April Fools' stunt. It was quite the resume he built up, and he will be missed. R.I.P. And once more, fuck cancer. Every day it isn't cured is a day wasted.
