Let's look at home ec, for instance. The keyword in Home Economics is, ECONOMICS! How to balance a checkbook, how to read your utility meters and predict your bills, How to prioritize expenditures, etc. Was the class ACTUALLY about ANY of that? It was not. It was a second arts and crafts class. Break down a lesson on how to make a sweat shirt out of two yards of straight fabric. By the time you purchase the materials, clutter your house with a sewing machine, and spend hours every day to make the shitty shirt, you would have spent enough time and money for ten shirts of much better quality. So, just some useless shit. A GED disregards such things and focuses on what actually needs to be known.
