Yeah exactly. The whole Murphy will never be Murphy again and can't be a husband or father to his wife and son in the original is an important aside to the other enjoyable elements of the movie, but it isn't overbearing and forced on the audience like it is in the reboot. Action movies are much better when some stupid, unimportant romance doesn't take over for stretches like it tends to in a lot of modern films.

And the director was overly concerned with Murphy's relationship to his family. RoboCop is supposed to be an action franchise and the sappy elements they tried to overpower it with were so forced and clichéd.

The people at Toonami are going to end up getting it cancelled again. Here's what Zenigundam sees as being a much better solution to this stale, little kiddie shonen Toonami dilemma. 11:00 Dragon Ball Super (It's sucky and for babies so far, but you have to show it since somebody thought it was a good idea to blow money on it) 11:30 Samurai Jack (Yeah this better not be for little ass kids) 12:00 Gundam Unicorn (How about you finally move it up?) 12:30 DBZ Kai (Yeah, if it's so great, then it'll get people to watch anywhere) Now here's where we start cleaning house 1:00 Escaflowne HD Funimation dub (Yeah... Let's get real for once) 1:30 Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact (Yes! Let's go! This is a true anime) 2:00 JoJo (Should be canceled, but have to eat that sunk cost. Now it can't ruin ratings) 2:30 Attack on Titan (Bring it back since Season 2 will assuredly air on Toonami) 3:00 Ghost in the Shell

I've never watched a full episode tbh. I had it on by accident while perusing the internet a few months ago and watched about ten minutes of it. Did link an appropriate GIF from the show though recently.

Toonami's getting the exact same ratings in the 18-34 demographic that ASA got throughout its ten year history. There was clearly discord for years at Williams Street in terms of how it wanted to handle anime, especially when ASA became assimilated into Adult Swim proper in the black & white bump era. I always felt there was a faction that wanted to keep let ASA keep its own spot (the ones who made it all anime when ASA Saturdays were revived in 2004), and a faction that wanted to assimilate action and comedy under the AS brand, sparking comedy lead-ins on Saturday starting with Futurama in '04, followed by Family Guy and The Boondocks in later years, thus causing loyal ASA and anime fans to riot and rebel against the evil comedy invasion. Toonami has the luxury of being guaranteed its timeslots because of all the packaging and money that goes into producing it, and it runs in an age when AS doesn't have three or four relatively fresh, mega comedy series that get ratings that threaten its existence, and yet it still doesn't perform better than ASA did because of the laughable quality of many of its series (and the list of duds is quite extensive). Look at that! Ghost in the Shell, being rerun for the millionth time, is getting better ratings than One-Punch Man, a Toonami original acquisition, did in the same slot. Anime people know what the game's all about. You're not going to trick non-children into thinking Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, and Naruto: Shippuden are good.

The lack of fanfare is no accident. I'd say that if every Toonami show aired in the exact timeslot on any given night, Hunter x Hunter would do the worst. Most of its fans are too young to know any better.

Hahahaha I haven't watched an episode in about two months, and the only battle I vaguely remember was the one with the time limit against the guy who made the glasses guy tell if he was lying or not. I can't even remember who won that "battle", so the battles are, indeed, woefully forgettable. Hunter x Hunter feels totally out of place on Toonami. I would expect it to be an early Saturday morning cartoon or something off of the Disney Channel.

AS Toonami's biggest flaw is that it sometimes plugs in bad series into its lineup and then refuses to pull the plug on the series when they don't do well. Cartoon Network had a habit of forcing the Toonami programmers to get rid of crap when it was failing. It's time to can JoJo, put Gundam Unicorn up in the line-up so I don't have to stay up until 1:30 when I'm about to pass out,, and accept that JoJo is quite overrated. Whatever happened to getting Funimation's recent dub of Escaflowne?
