I didn't see a law about it. It's just expected. The refrigerators are in the apartments already when new tenants sign their leases. They get replaced after they break down. When you have two hundred apartments in the same complex, there's bound to be at least one breakdown each month. See also, stoves, the hot water tank and the heating system.

The rents are only high because landlords have very high overrhread. You might give your landlord $1,500 a month, but if anything goes wrong with the boiler, it could be a $2,000 repair job and he just loses that month's rent and part of next month's rent.

As for walking, I can very easily go from Cardiff Plaza to Autobahn in Northfield. If you're just zooming by in a car, you're going to miss a lot along the way.

I resigned. Nobody "dropped" me. Second, that smoking area is the only outdoor table. When I buy lunch at Shoprite, that's where I end up sitting. Third, nobody was "interrupted". They saw me sitting there, started talking and as usual with most people, the conversation meanders.
