Animators are professional victims who consider anything but blind admiration for their work as threats, so take this with a grain of salt, It’s also a good way to farm pity points when the project itself is doing poorly. It’s very hard to believe there is this aggressive of a reaction to a film with a low key release on streaming. Theater release? Maybe. I could see people being pissed over paying $20 +$30 for popcorn +tip to watch dog boners.

Never even considered any of Demarco’s public statements to be part of the problem. I agree, all that happened long after the bridge was already burned and that was just Demarco having a melty and lashing out. Demarco has an ego, especially when it comes to Toonami. Guarantee you he tried waving his dick around the CR office like having shows on Toonami matters in this day and age, and the CR guys decided to humble him long term. They whipped their much bigger dicks out and showed him who is boss when it comes to anime now. I don’t think it’s that they see the block as direct competition. But TOM and the Toonami brand are beloved by an entire generation of anime fans, and Crunchyroll just does not like that. They think their brand and whatever their mascots name is should be the first thing people think of for anime in the west. They just want Toonami to be gone so it can fade into memory.
-
Because Demarco is an idiot who ruined any potential future with Crunchyroll. Always remember that they gave some upstart block on an irrelevant channel MHA. It’s not that they won’t deal, it’s that they won’t deal with Toonami specifically.

I dunno man, that feels like when Letterman had Miku on. A weird thing that zero people in the target audience know about or understand and it ends up just being an awkward 5-10 minutes for everyone involved. Even if Tatum knows the series, it’s like yapping about anime to someone who has no idea what you are on about and can only politely nod until they are given an exit from the conversation.

Rooster Fighter to debut at New York Comic Con

Did everyone memoryhole that they already confirmed it will premier in April 2026? -
I would be shocked if Dan Da Dan went straight into S2. The dub would barely even be 3 months old at that point. My money is on Mashle S2 replacing it.

Because we chugged through 500 episodes of Shippuden over the course of 10.5 years. We have EARNED a block that doesn’t have Naruto on it. It’s a principle thing. Not having anything else to put there is the point for cutting the slot entirely. It’s an extra slot that was just supposed to be for the Ninja Kamui sub run and they refuse to give it up for whatever reason. Put Futurama there are whatever, if it’s not part of Toonami anymore it doesn’t really matter.
-
Well, they issued a revision, unfortunately Naruto is sticking around. Looks like someone set the font size too big. Dont know why we can’t just shake this slot already.
-
Eh, we will see. Remember that time Kai was on the schedule, then they decided it wasn’t? It lingered online for a few days. Choosing to run Naruto after Lazarus always felt like it was set up to bump Naruto off easily soon.

Expected continuation, and unexpected, but welcome, removal of the last of the Rewind mistake, as well as a long overdue dropping of that 7th timeslot. This is what the block should aspire to be at all times, almost pure premier content. No more looking backwards. Also, neat new schedule graphic. Has a bit more pop than the old one.

I don’t think any of that will be necessary. Bleach is in a weird place, we talk about its 4 separate cours, but technically, they are all one single season. If there wasn’t a different show about to end, they easily could have just left it on the schedule and had it carry on with no announcement. So they can bring in BE S3 as a “new” show. They don’t have to treat Bleach the same way, so it’s not like having new shows between 2 weeks. They are already fighting uphill right now, no need to complicate things more with further pointless marathon delays. Especially since we are closing in on the excessive year end ones.
-
At this point, it’s been off so long they would feel obligated to run S1 again just to get people back on board.
-
Looks like a blank schedule for 8/23. Blue Exorcist ends its season the week prior, so hopefully it’s just S3 tagging in. We also have Bleach ending its first cour that night. Not sure if AS will treat each cour as an announcement if they air back to back.

King of the Hill revival series headed to Hulu this summer
Toonamiguy321 replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I can see why they hid the Kahn recast till the last second, just abysmal. It sounds like a white person trying really hard to not be racist https://x.com/kingofthehill/status/1952036738991526226 -
In a welcome surprise, the block received a stealth drop of fresh packaging tonight. We had been with the previous set since March 2022. A huge improvement IMO. The previous set caused any footage used to have a terrible, grainy bitrate. New packaging is crystal clear. Im eager to see what the new schedule graphics look like, but barring a marathon it’s probably gonna be awhile before we see one.

I was waiting till the final episode, but the absence of the president in season 8 has not gone unnoticed, and this would be the explanation for why. I like the president, I think he has some of the better episodes associated with him, but can he carry an entire show by himself? Eh. Most of the fun with him is him bouncing secret president stuff off Rick’s sci fi nonsense. And if Rick appears much, it’s just gonna feel more like Rick and Andre.

I thought UWE was his passion project? Maybe the executives who told him making a movie about dog boners wasn’t a good idea were onto something? Probably the same thing they said after S2. “Cooked”, “washed”, “done”. This sounds like giga copium from western creators for simply not being able to make good looking content in the first place. “We make it’s ugly on purpose, not because of a criminal lack of talent in the industry!” It makes even less sense when you realize a lot of hit cartoons actually meant for kids are “ugly” in their own ways. Big Mouth’s staff always sound like closet pedos any time they speak. Trying too hard to defend it comes off as having something to hide. Yet even with the style choices, the show is incredibly popular among children. It’s a lot of kids first step into edgy content. I really don’t think the theory of shows being ugly/unusual looking holds any water for keeping kids away.

Dan Da Dan premieres on Toonami July 26 12:30

I don’t think it amounts to anything tangible, just whoever has such a hateboner for Toonami over at Crunchyroll having a new thing to agitate them. The simple fact the block got a show away from their vice grip is enough. It changes nothing, but it’s a spiritual victory. I mean, I have been a loud advocate for them moving away from super popular stuff for many years now. I’d love to see them take a route less traveled, but I have also come to accept them probably never will. And since we got a taster this year that they will happily air NOTHING, my tolerance for predictable shonen has gone up a lot. It also helps that I still instinctively avoid shows I feel like might make the block. I don’t know a single thing about this series aside from the fact that it was really popular last year. So it’s certified new to me. So much time has passed without a Crunchyroll show airing without outside influence forcing it to happen, it’s really hard not to arrive at the conclusion that it’s a direct issue between AS and Crunchyroll. Our last non sequel Crunchyroll show was Gridman at the start of 2021, and I’m pretty sure that still carried Funimation tags when it aired. I do agree that it seems very strange to have such direct and petty beef going on with a barely relevant cable block. You’d think Demarco personally goes to the head guys house and urinates on his dog or something to warrant a feud like this. The only realistic theory I can come up with is that Crunchyroll wanted renegotiate the contract with AoT, and they took it VERY personal when AS didn’t agree. At the very least, if the fanbase would call out Crunchyroll, it would put the ball in their court to do something to squash the “rumor”. It’s just every time we get a schedule update, there are people in the comments confident that MHA S7 is right around the corner when it isn’t. Fair enough, because I know exactly what that feels like, prior to the schedule woes settling in I was so sick of the lineup constantly being so predictable since all they ever shot for was popular stuff. Most of the shows weren’t bad, I was just longing for that wow factor of something truly unexpected. I guess I just got really beaten down by Jan-May. The first few months was 1 show, then there was no shows, then back to 1, and even during that 1 period I often didn’t even want to tune in because why bother for just one show? So getting back to 3, and having pretty solid confidence it’s gonna stay at 3 until at minimum the leaves start falling, is a pretty substantial upgrade from my perspective. -
Adult Swim announces schedule for San Diego Comic Con 2025
Toonamiguy321 replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
They are gassing up the R&M season finale, I wonder if it will kickstart some new overarching plot. This season thus far has just been episodic adventures. Not surprised Toonami isn’t on the roster as it has no further originals this year so they wouldn’t really have anything to do.
