Yeah, I think he did with them but I'm pretty sure he was never upset by killing the villainous Laughing Coffin guys until the re-writing.

I don't think what she was doing resulted in the smoke bomb explosion. Not sure but I think that interrupted her since we never saw her red path reach the "goal" that was shown at the other end. I'm thinking maybe she was trying to ignite him or something like she does the others. Not sure it'd actually work on another pillar though.
