EPISODE #49: Night Of The Battle To Retake The Wall We've witnessed a coup, a coronation, the death of a cowboy, and a bystander's confession. Now the time has finally come to retake Outer Wall Maria, tonight (11/10) at Midnight in the mid-season finale!! ONLY TOONAMI!! (apologies for crappy video quality, but it was the best I could find...)

Wow, I guess this was kind of a "shitty" episode then? NOPE! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/jojo-bizarre-adventure-diamond-is-unbreakable/episode-11/.103113 Rating: "A". A step down from last week's stellar offering, but still quite good! As for WHY Okuyasu was revivable vs. his brother, my theory is that he might have died but his energy never dropped to zero. Also, like some kind of hyper starfish, he was able to regenerate, since not much time had passed between him getting his arm cut off and the use of Shining Diamond, so apparently the cut-off arm was still slightly alive. Bring on Part 2 of the Chili Pepper saga tomorrow night!!

naruto Naruto Shippuden Episode 225 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to StarPanda's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Would need to bring that epic musical score from 2000 back though, unlike Brotherhood, which had a completely different (though equally excellent) score. Hell, at this point I'd even expect a Boruto-style continuation of InuYasha... -
Ummm...wow! Maybe it's temporary, but this is worse than I thought. It hasn't just been a gradual cutback--ALL Funimation shows have left VRV, INCLUDING in-progress simuldubs! So, if you were watching dubs of Goblin Slayer or SSSS.Gridman, you're just SOL without getting a FUNimation NOW subscription! Man am I GLAD I binged the first 5 episodes of Gridman yesterday, and for some reason an insomniac viewing of the end of Samurai Champloo since it has left [as]. But MAN, I wish I had watched Goblin Slayer's dub at some point now. That show is so ridiculously popular, it's just BEGGING to be on Toonami soon, especially if the dub of MegaloBox gets delayed to next year... Interestingly enough, the following Toonami alumni have just been added recently: Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans; Akame ga KILL; and Parasyte (the latter 2 as part of HiDive).

Not true at all. Maybe not VOD through your cable company, but they are both still available on the Adult Swim app, though I'd say Unicorn's days are probably numbered since it's approaching 2 years since they announced its acquisition. Hopefully it will get one more streaming run (Episodes 13-22, which cover OVAs 5-7 would be a nice sendoff) before [as] gives up the rights. Outlaw Star probably won't be going anywhere until next summer, and it might even get an extra run on Toonami!

I joined VRV a year or so ago because I liked their player better. FUNimation's was NOT working worth a crap for me. But it's after Midnight on November 9th and nothing has left--yet... Anyway, I decided to see the bulk of the FUNI catalog leaving VRV off with the last couple of episodes of Samurai Champloo.

Black Clover Page 45 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to ben0119's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Because once you click on a tag, all threads tagged with that tag show up. Try it with any of the other shows for which I regularly snag discussion threads. Anyway, as for the episode... https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/black-clover/episode-45/.135534 Rating: "B". Yeah, I agree. And for Grey to really be a blue-haired 24-year old girl and ashamed of her true form was somewhat surprising. Speaking of surprising, this pick-up at first surprised me, but it has continued, 45 episodes later, to be a worthy addition to Toonami! -

Somewhere, at some point, someone in some show needs to use the line "die, and I'll re-animate your corpse and then kill you!" THAT would be a good one! -

SSSS Gridman - Trigger’s remake of Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad
OwlChemist81 replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
FINALLY watched the first 5 episodes, thinking they were going to be pulled from VRV, and I AM HOOKED!!!! Fortunately FUNimation's channel is NOT disappearing completely from VRV or is getting folded into Crunchyroll's, which means we can still see this season's Simuldub series without paying an extra $5.99 a month. There is a partial list of the shows that will be pulled from VRV tomorrow that I'm going to post in its own thread soon... -
mob psycho 100 Mob Psycho 100 Episode 002 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Wouldn't they have to for the male teachers? But they might be a little too high for a shrimp like Mob to use... Note: this review is for the first 2 episodes, but it has some NIIIIIIICE backstory on the designers... https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/mob-psycho-100/episodes-1-2/.104470 Rating: "A". Yes, I agree. This show is a great, if a little late, addition to Toonami. But then again, we have Season 2 coming up, and there is certainly great potential for that to be more "timely." -
I think it's actually 45. But still, nope. That's enough time to find another "hit." Of course, they could always just double up Super and rerun it...

And of course Dragon Ball Super would go on to win the night in both 18-49 and 18-34, but the movie won in terms of total viewers. DBZ Kai did score the lowest number we've seen in Toonami primetime, a 0.13, estimated at a mere 88K adults 18-34, but that's what happens when you're a sacrificial lamb to Alabama at LSU. Up next in the lead-in movie slot is Alvin & The Chipmunks 3: The Road Chip. This movie didn't do impressively when it premiered a month ago, so I don't expect much from it as a rerun.

This must be related to AOT Junior High?? Well, I FINALLY watched the episode all the way through, and I feel it was rated a little too low by ANN: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/attack-on-titan/episode-48/.137854 Rating: "B". Interestingly enough none of y'all nor this review even mentioned the most interesting plot point of the 2nd half of this episode, well, most interesting to me anyway: that Keith actually sabotaged Eren's chances of getting into the Scouts by snapping the clamp for his ODM gear himself, and only repaired it when it was discovered. We previously only knew Keith as the hard-ass "drill sergeant" type back in Episode 3 of Season 1, so this backstory was welcome. I'd have gone with "A-", but that's just me.

Mob improved, but backstory-heavy AOT took a pretty big hit: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-11-3-2018.html The only eligible Toonami show that didn't make the Top 50 is JoJo, coming in at #55 with an even 300K and a 0.12.

mha My Hero Academia Episode #25 (212) Discussion!!!
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Maybe Toonami will see fit to replace Hunter x Hunter with a rerun of that? It aired on Syfy, though not in HD... Also, I've been watching MHA first thing on Sundays these days, since during College Football season it seems to be the toughest show to catch, and I've gotta say the tournament finale felt pretty anticlimactic, though Bakugo's "sore winner" antics were pretty damn hilarious! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/my-hero-academia/episode-25/.117632 Rating: "A-". Yeah, I guess I agree. There was a LOT going on in this episode, and there are a few menacing figures on the periphery that might play a role soon... -
Black Clover Page 45 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to ben0119's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Yes. If you wanted to go back and see a bunch of Black Clover discussions, they would be helpful. -
Really? Well that’s a let down. Marathoning the show only to restart the season in the same slot for two more weeks before FLCLA finishes its rerun so it can move in and make way for Megalo Box. As bleh as three weeks of Titan reruns at midnight would be it’s preferable to a marathon that nukes the rest of the premieres for a week. Good to see they've actually scheduled the whole month of November even if that's the case. But AOT's rerun getting its first 2 episodes at Midnight is just freaking lazy even if there's really nowhere for it to go until Lupin ends, which is why I feel they MIGHT double up on Lupin's finale and give PTE the night off (not like it has any continuity to destroy) on December 1 right before AOT moves down to the back end with #40 (303) on December 8th. But in that case, why does it have to be Season 3? It will be a little while until we get the 2nd half, so I'd keep Titan on the block and go back to the start of Season 2!
