I don't see the point for a normal person to get a sleep study.
There are all kinds of things you can do before having someone monitor your brain so they can then prescribe you something which isn't necessary.
However there ares medical situations for certain specific issues (like a patient with epilepsy who has a neurologist) wherein this might be required.
Stop drinking and turn the lights off before bed and stay in a cool dark room. Booze obviously disrupts sleep while under the influence, also substance use in general (booze to) can disrupt sleep even when not under the influence.
The brain is a sensitive organ.
