Variety’s “Scriptwriters to watch out for” article reveals Tasha Huo is writing the Naruto movie script

Don’t worry too much, last I checked, the director, Michael Garcey, was adamant he would not direct anything without Kishimoto signing off on it.  Sign-off allegedly saved the Mario movie (the second one) from being irredeemably terrible, so we’ll see.

Hopefully what happened with Mario and also the live-action One Piece becomes the norm going forward, because that's probably the only way you're gonna get consistently good adaptations of otaku-centric media.

Stuff like that is probably why Gracey won't film a movie unless Kishimoto signs off on the script.

I'm hoping Yu Yu does well when it debuts with the Alice in Borderland/K-Drama crowd, because that's when the floodgates open and we get adaptations of stuff no one's tried to do stuff with for decades.  That means a Martian Successor Nadiesco movie and crazy stuff like that.
