Do you say prank call or crank call?

Recommended Posts

I remember hearing people say they got a crank call as a kid, and I've probably said crank call a few times myself there after. That phrase has always bothered me I mean it's Crank Yankers, not Prank yankers, but the term crank call obviously started as a sort of mondegreen from prank call.. What do you guys think prank call or....

crank call.

They're two separate things.  Crank call has an agenda.  Prank call is just a random act of buffoonery.

See I've read that as well. I was sifting through pages like this when I first thought of making the thread.https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/117939/crank-call-vs-prank-call I also forgot Crank was slang for an angry or cross person back in the day so it makes sense someone calling you up for a shouting match would be a "crank call"
