1938_Packard Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 The governor of New Jersey has declared a "state of emergency" today, meaning that non essential government offices and schools will be closed. He stopped short of declaring a "travel ban". That means all the major roadways are still open for the normal flow of traffic. For some reason, a situation like this always creates a certain level of confusion in terms of the company's attendance policy. Calling out today can and will result in demerits added to employee attendance records. The demerits are only negated during travel bans. This is what the union has officially agreed to. I'm astounded by the number of people who don't get that. They will call out today and line up in front of the union hall tomorrow, trying to get their demerits taken off. Me? I'm showing up for work today and there's likely to be some sort of incentive or reward involved. Same story, every storm since Sandy.

naraku360 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Wow, captivating. I'm sure this is something people care about. ::]::
scoobdog Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I don't see what's so astounding. None of them live in hovels and need to go to work for protection from the storm.
