Sneaky cats.

Today makes twice this cat has snuck his way out the front door and booked it since he got back from the vet. This time I answered the door for a sales rep from vivint that I mistaked for a delivery dude.. Just woke up a few minutes prior.. Uggh. If this cat gets himself hurt again before his $400 injury heals he might find himself homeless..

It's going to take a little time to get over the whole 'outside warrior' feelings. All he knows is that he was feeling bad, now he doesn't so it's time to get back to pissing on everything and scratching ass to reassert his territorial dominance.

Get him an interact cat toy to get him to focus on that whenever he starts focusing on the door. I got one of those cheap auto-laser toys that have a 15 minute timer on them - set it on a table, turn it on and she slaps the moving light-beam until she's bored while I do other things. I alternate that with her fuzzy-worm wand so she thinks she's getting 100% attention 100% of the time because there's always a moving toy for her to hunt.

His foot's getting better since they drained it and took care of the infection at the vet, but he still doesn't put his full weight on it. I've been trying to keep him inside, but there's no way to keep his eyes off the door.. He doesn't really go for toys at all these days. Every now and then he'll play, but not often.

You'll have to test drive a few things because every kitty has something that they need to 'kill' .

Ex. my cat hates toys with any sort of 'face' on them. She loves wiggle worm on-a-pole, laser pointers and pieces of cardboard big enough to at least put her butt on. Which includes the occasionally flattened empty TP roll. :D Previous kitty's favorite toys were sponge balls and pop tops.

Try making paper hats out of newspaper. They are huge, can be made to stand on their own, and form a pocket for kitty to stick his head in for the hell of it. Also cheap.
