Jman
A series that is so 80's-tastic that 80's nostalgia is a plot point. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-02-21/aic-ad-new-megazone-23-pretty-sammy-projects-in-the-works/.112515 Also more Tenchi Muyo stuff even though that horse is dead and turned to glue. CaptainStarwind
Hopefully the Megazone 23 thing turns out good.
EyeOfPain
So this'll be Megazone 23 Part IV? I never got a chance to get into Megazone, but it always looked kinda cool. Not sure why they're doing a 3rd Pretty Sammy installment. Guess magical girls are the new hotness, and harems are out.
Blatch
While were on the subject of Tenchi, apparently the franchise's popularity is so dead over here that nobody has bothered to fansub the new OVA, despite it having been out since November. You can think it's either humiliating or sad, but I don't have a stake in that. So ha.
MasqueradeOverture
I'm about new Megazone 23. However, they need to find a way to keep it 80's as fuck (or else it isn't Megazone).

I think Jman is partially correct when he says that Tenchi's US popularity was due to unique circumstances. This IS an appeal to the series, however, so I can't give it all to that. But I haven't had that appeal for anything put out recently.
Jman
Even if you argue that there was a base appeal in the US past its initial nostalgia (Tenchi was so radically different from anything on TV back then, not so much now), the plot has become such a convoluted mess and the writing suffered so much that most of its initial appeal is gone.
