Well, that was quite a silly episode! Tomorrow night on Dragon Ball Super:

...we meet Monaka, and Goku almost blows his cover!

EPISODE 32: The Matches Begin! We're All Off To The Planet With No Name!!

Pooh bear Winnie the Pooooooh bear!

Tried finding a Bulma figure with that current outfit she has on there, but the only one I could find was this, which is chibi, isn't poseable and isn't very well-crafted. https://www.bonanza.com/listings/Banpresto-Dragon-Ball-Z-2-8-Inch-Bulma-Movie-World-Collectable-Figure-Volume-3/609266980?goog_pla=1&gpid=177431040541&keyword=&goog_pla=1&pos=1o1&ad_type=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIj_at-eTt3AIVB5-fCh2DOwtmEAkYASABEgKeQvD_BwE

Funny thing happened while waiting in an early pick-up line for a con badge: ummm..... they had technical difficulties causing them to only START giving out the badges 40 minutes past the scheduled start time, and there were 50 people in front of me, and it takes 30 minutes to get to my place.  SO I MISSED this evening's broadcast.  Also the con itself is tomorrow.  can't expect me to catch ALL the episodes.

Oops...

Last night's Episode 36 continued the battle between Vegeta and Magetta that began Friday in Episode 35. I was unable to watch it live, thanks to Journey, but I'm catching it now, and I noticed a few interesting things:

  • Adult Swim threw some interesting shade at the launch of the Parker Solar Probe to collect data from the sun's atmosphere, saying in a bump that more people were watching the bump than the actual launch (and asking for some space swag). The thing is, it happened during Dragon Ball Super, so in a way they were maybe acknowledging its viewership?
  • Vegeta actually said a rare cuss word: "god damn" (I don't think it's blasphemy if it's lower case, which you can tell in type, but not in speech). I could be wrong, but that might be the first time it's been uttered on the network in the 8 PM timeslot on a weeknight. Hank Hill used to say "got dang" all the time, but Vegeta, especially when he's pissed off from still being in a match on a technicality, pulls no punches, as we saw in the remainder of the episode. Of course, last year this episode DID air at 8 PM on a Saturday last year, so maybe THAT was the first time ever?
  • The internal topical last night was a Venture Bros. topical; there was no "before return of 2nd half" topical.

Now, getting back on track with the topical of Episode 37:

Just replace "11 PM Next Saturday" with "This Evening at 8 PM" as usual!

I really feel like any ratings thread should now be purged. Those MHA ratings in its first outing at 10 PM were HORRIFYING, and if that continues, i can see Toonami changing the schedule around yet again. Now, Super on weekdays really is doing better than Toonami proper!

This is the wrong threat for this, but we've just found out the problem turned out to be that Venture Bros. rerun. The sooner this albatross of a series ends, the better.

Or they could just play replays on another night besides Saturdays. Or just NOT play it on Saturdays. Yeah, THAT one. The Black Dynamite effect is in full play.

BACK ON TOPIC:

Wow, I had forgotten that they extended the size of the ring after the Vegeta/Magetta fight beat the hell out of it! :D

This is a really good ep!  One of the more memorable in this arc.  Too bad Vegeta doesn't get to do a whole lot of other awesome stuff in this show.  i can see this universe 6 guy having a bigger role in an arc and be a raelly good character!

Sure, ultimately Vegeta had to go Blue to beat him, It would be really cool if Cabba came back at some point after performing the 6-Saiyan Ritual and becoming a Super Saiyan Blue himself!

"I knew he had it in him!" Yamcha, you're totally useless in this show now.  Your voice and manner of speaking hasn't changed or evolved!  Just leave! :D

Eh, his clueless comedy is kind of an asset!

Tomorrow evening, the fight continues:

What a silly still-frame though! I probably won't be watching until 10 PM, so enjoy!

Forgot to tune in today. I worked, and also took a nap.

Nothing wrong with that. I did watch most of the West Coast airing though. I guess that means I'm ready for Episode #39:

2 WEEKS!? That was torture! Thank goodness this episode will just be 8 PM tomorrow (Thursday)!

Oh right this is the ep where the reuse the theme song as an insert song during the awesome part!

Timeskip is an interesting name for a power as well as a story trope.

I can't help but think of Jotaro battling Dio watching this, because his abilities are almost identical! I used to think Matt Mercer was a fine choice to play Hit, but now I know he was the PERFECT choice!!

Yeah, KAIO-KEN BLUE!!

Oh wow, Pop Team Epic rips on GHOSTBUSTERS this Saturday night!!

And tomorrow night, we conclude this epic battle between Goku and Hit!

Oh yeah, we WERE in Countdown at this point last year, huh?

Funny, Grand Zeno shows up right at the end of this episode, and Grand Zeno will be featured Saturday night.

Why couldn't they air THAT promo!?!

Wow, no discussion tonight, as the 6th Universe Tournament Arc comes to a close, and hinted at events to come on Toonami's premiere run on Saturday nights!

But for now, we move on to THIS tomorrow night:

It's hard to keep a secret from a Saiyan, especially one as battle-obsessed as Goku!

AND there will also be those days where I plum forget to tune in.

I never even watch these reruns...made a slight effort to watch them at first but I hate super enough that I just kept forgetting so I gave up

A bit late here. I was caught on a tumblr conversation, and then had to catch up on my threads here.

I keep thinking this is the first arc of Super due to the feasts and umbrella tables.  Which would mean AS reruns this show back to the beginning again this soon. And that would be annoying.

The character interactions are the only things keeping this ep entertaining. Otherwise it's really a bunch of nothing.  The most that happens is that the cast learns Monaka is just a weak normie. .... except Goku, because he got a lobotomy.

I agree, the cast having some fun in this episode is the only thing saving it for me.
