Automated phone and video interviews are the worse

I thought phone interviews where you actually talk to a person were bad enough. But then I had a few places where I did an automated phone interview for where it asks the questions and you answer and hit a button when you're done, and just did an automated video interview for another place.

it just sounds like a waste of time for both of you. many of the questions they ask shouldn't be "strongly agree/disagree/whatever" they should be open ended. that's how you find who is good and who isn't. yeah you can fake an answer but good luck backing it up

They were open ended questions like you'd ask in any other interview. But it just feels weird giving my answer to no one and not being able to see their reaction or answer follow up questions.

The automated phone one is an Indeed thing, I think. I had like 3 places do it and they were all places I applied to on Indeed and all had the same four questions. The video one was for a major local medical center. They probably get enough applicants that they don't really care.

video interview is fine. i've done those before. automated interview? i'd be very against working for any company that did that

They had some of the standard interview questions (do you have a Bachelor's degree, are you eligible to work in the US, etc.) where you just clicked yes or no. For god only knows what reason, they made "Have you ever been convicted of a felony, if so explain", a video question. So I hit record, said simply "No" (because do I really need to be formal on that one?) and then realized the questions had like a 10 second minimum length, so the video is just me trying to click stop over and over.
