I get the sense Rick and Morty is way more popular than Metalocalypse far as that goes, I'm kinda surprised any holdup on the network's end, to me it seemed like they just took a while to hone the episodes and make the show

Dan Harmon also said that Cartoon Network's non-committal attitude is standard procedure for them.
