Popping kpins sounds like . . . no, that's stupid and childish. :poop:
Phillies
Why are you taking them? How long do you plan on taking them? Is a doctor prescribing?
bnmjy
Mood stabilization for depression. It's been years since I've been on medication, so I want to try it again. I've heard that benzos are a pain to come off of, and one of the last things I want is to deal with drug withdrawal. I came off Prozac with few difficulties. I actually lost nearly fifty pounds while taking them anyway.

They are given for anxiety that is their purpose. They are a bitch to come off of. If you have anxiety you might want to use them as a last resort. There is no easy answer or magic pills for mental health issues. So way the pros and the cons. Do you want to put a potentially addictive substance in your body for long term? Not a good idea. bnmjy
Anxiety often comes with depression. I took Ativan with Prozac for a short time, not enough to become dependent. Looks like I'm just going to try Lexapro by itself.

I don't wanna sound like that douche who says take a vitamin pill and get some exercise.... you aren't bipolar by any chance?

I won't be the type who relies solely on the pill for therapy. I know my body can handle ssris just fine.

Popping kpins sounds like . . . no, that's stupid and childish. :poop: If you're not popping them like M&M's, they're quite useful. If you're on an SSRI or an NSRI, they're handy for the occasional breakthrough episode of anxiety. I've got Ativan, too, and although I don't take it very often, it's nice to have when I need it. Yes, benzos are a bitch to come off, maybe on a par with DT's, but that's only if you're physically dependent. If you're only taking them now and then, and at prescribed dosages, you're not going to develop a physical dependency.

mthor
No. They gave me free samples. Unfortunately, they were of Colace, but one takes what one can get.

Phillies
No one gave me any free samples. I got free samples of Latuda and 2 weeks of akathisia. And the shiny pen that say Latuda on it.

I've read anecdotes of people having bad withdrawal even when they followed the prescribed dosages. I never really get panic attacks from my anxiety, though it is something of a hindrance. mthor
I can see where that would be possible - my prescription is for 0.5 mg every 6 hours as needed. If one were to ignore or misinterpret the "as needed" part, one could wind up dependent (which unfortunately happens). But every once in a while, they're not a problem. I've been on them for about 10 years, and have yet to go through withdrawal (of course, the bottle from last November is still 1/2 full and sitting in the cupboard...) fuggnificent
mine stopped working after a few years. but boy, when i first started taking kpins they were like fucking magic. i would feel all panicky like the sky was going to fall on my head.. just really afraid and kpins would calm me right down. or when i was feeling manicky it would make those feelings go away. now it just makes me a little sleepy.. no more calming effect.
