I love how my work doesn't even give me the option...

...to volunteer for OT on days when I actually kinda want it.

But then, without fail, will almost always mandate me to work OT on days when I really, really, DON'T want it.

You can't walk all over your bosses by asking for things you want.

That's super hella improper capitalism.

Please understand it's super hella proper to get pushed around

when it's convenient for them.

I could if I had like 20 more years here. I work for the state so seniority is everything. I know they're still short staffed on 3rd shift so they probably just got enough volunteers from the more senior people since they ask them first. But of course when they don't have enough volunteers us new people are first on the list to get mandated.

Thankfully they can't make me come in on my days off. Although when they make me work a double the day before my day off it feels like I lose half of my day off.

customers try to get me to do work on weekends, there are very few instances in which i actually have to be the one to do the work. Otherwise, i throw it to our offshore team and tell them to deal with it

Yay offshore teams

they're 24/7, and we're not. i can think of only a few instances in which there would be something major that i'd have to write basically a book of instructions to get the work done, and it would take me longer to write the instructions and explain it to someone than for me to just spend the 2 hours on a saturday or whatever actually doing the work. that hasn't happened yet because the power of laziness compels me
