More shenanigans from Frieza. Frieza's reaction to being called evil LOL. A constant death beam cage. That's creative. Gohan sacrificed himself to take out Dispo? Maybe it was worth it? So then we wait until next week for Goku and Vegeta vs Jiren battle to continue. -

And why didn't Dispo do this earlier? How powerful are the Zenos really if they can't follow this battle? Gohan DAAAAAYUUUUUMMM. -

THAT'S what Dr. Stone is about?! That's quite something. It's a whole lot to absorb. I hope that cute girl doesn't stay stone until the end of the series. -
Looks like it is coming to Funimation Now in October. That was in the Youtube description for the trailer for the dub of it. I didn't watch the trailer itself so I would avoid spoilers for the season finale. So there will be a simuldub on Funimation Now at least? I just read a Collider article that says Funimation is premiering (well premiered, now) the season 4 premiere at Anime Expo on July 6th? And I ended up getting a spoiler for a new character intro after I read this article anyway. The show is premiering October 12th. Surely Funimation wouldn't be showing the episode before Japan? I have to assume there was some Japanese convention where the premiere got screened at around the same time or earlier. Otherwise that's just really bizarre. But there is no proof that Toonami is getting a simuldub, possibly similar deal to what went on with Attack on Titan Season 3, or something. Just because Toonami is airing the reruns of the episodes they already have the rights to, doesn't mean they will get or currently have the rights to season 4. Guess we'll just have to wait and find out. I still think it's stupid to death-slot the last few episodes of season 3, either way. I'll just quote what I said in the Dr. Stone thread here - My thing is, is why are they going to the trouble to locking down MHA, after what they've just done with Season 3? Anyone just following MHA on Toonami has had to put up with a lot of schedule changes, most of them pretty tolerable, though, but going from decent time slot to ass end of the block is quite a lot to deal with, to expect people to keep following it. So, it goes from decent time slots, to death-slot, back to decent time slot? They want as many viewers as possible to follow on Toonami and not go elsewhere, right? But they pull a stunt like that? Yeah, lots of people are still watching it at that time, as MHA continues to outperform the shows coming on before it, and yeah they can watch on DVR or cable on-demand, but I'm sure a sizable chunk of them went elsewhere, and probably won't come back. They really expect viewers to be loyal through all that, or, if they left, to come back when they get season 4? This strategy is idiotic, to say the least.

Demarco himself actually stated that Gundam Origin was moving to 1, and also that Toonami was contracting, remember? Neither of those happened, and they had to have been going after Fire Force at the time, so I have no idea what Demarco was thinking with those Twitter posts. It still remains to be seen if Food Wars was part of a package deal with Sentai or not. We're all assuming that because it's outright madness to get Food Wars otherwise. If not, Demarco is even more cracked than I thought.

dragon ball super Dragon Ball Super Episode 123 Discussion
ben0119 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Oh, well, I see. I'm sure we've seen other instances where characters blocked or withstood attacks by using their aura. Either way, Gohan didn't actually touch the edges of the discs! The Cell part was still cool, though. And I can legit see Jiren's working because he punched the discs on the flat part, right? And then he caught the other one. So he countered them while looking like a badass, but didn't touch the edges. I think that's valid. Is the Gohan thing canon? Super probably really isn't canon given that it's not wholly created by Toriyama, and it's not adapted from a manga, either. Even with all the craziness and goofiness of Toriyama over the years, he was consistent with the characters and their personalities, and a lot of the rules and lore, at least while he was making the series, anyway. Of course, I don't take any of the nonsense he's said since then as canon, since it directly contradicts things, like what he's said about Goku's personality, that he just cares about fighting strong people. Goku liked to fight but he clearly cared about people, and this was seen all throughout the series. So yeah, that's basically just like the random stuff that J.K. Rowling will say. It may be said by the original creator, but it's not in the actual story, so it's not canon. -
What do you mean by premium? I don't get what you're saying here. My thing is, is why are they going to the trouble to locking down MHA, after what they've just done with Season 3? Anyone just following MHA on Toonami has had to put up with a lot of schedule changes, most of them pretty tolerable, though, but going from decent time slot to ass end of the block is quite a lot to deal with, to expect people to keep following it. Other shows besides Dragon Ball can definitely lead off the block. It hasn't always been this way. Attack on Titan failed because they tried rerunning it in the same slot. My Hero Academia was before Super. I think if Super wasn't present and it was just MHA, the result might have been different? People have been so conditioned to think that Toonami starts with Dragon Ball, so they probably just didn't adjust to watching anything before that if they weren't already. And just in general I think performance might have been different if MHA was really given the chance to stand on its own without Dragon Ball in the equation, but I could be wrong. My personal pipe dream is we finally get Bleach's final arc animated, co-funded/produced by Adult Swim/Toonami. I think Bleach: Bankai has a nice ring to it. That means "final release," it's a major part of the series, and well - Bleach was a stalwart for ASA and Toonami for many years, after all. If not that (and most likely isn't that,) maybe Dr. Stone, MHA, or Fire Force can do it, or any other number of big shows still out there that have been mentioned before, if any of them last long enough and are popular enough, and if this popularity translates to Toonami. Toonami has been so dependent on Dragon Ball for so long, which is very funny when you think about Demarco saying "we don't need Dragon Ball," before it was available, then snatched up Kai as soon as it as available, and now here we are. If they really haven't made any serious plans for when Super ends, then they're extremely foolish. And I hope they don't try to just rerun it, at least not in the same time slot. Though maybe with most shows being seasonal and ongoing long-runners going the way of the dodo, Toonami may be in trouble and have to somehow adjust their strategy to deal with the current way things are done in the industry. I don't know. But they better come up with something. But I mean, getting things like Lupin (though I like it, it's not very popular,) Gundam Origin, and Food Wars at a time like this is wasteful and not smart. Toonami can't afford to be fucking around like that right now. They need to get their shit together.
-
Yes but then why did they death-slot it? If they're so intent on keeping it, you'd think they'd use it better. If it's purely just to keep it away from competitors, this makes them look like hypocrites after Demarco talked about being upset about other networks doing the same thing to them. Acquiring shows just to sit on them, so Toonami can't have them. I can't think of who it was right now, but it happened with 3 shows back in the old days, and Demarco seems to still hold a grudge over it even to this day (to a block that no longer exists that was original Toonami's competition at the time.)

Black Clover Page 83 Discussion Last time on Black Clover-- AS I WAS SAYING. Before that... The Black Bulls damn near killed Langris for his deadly attack on Finral, and no one would have shed a tear. The Wizard King actually decided to allow the match between Asta and Langris team to happen right away, impromptu. We learned that the Wizard King had set up this tournament partially to find out who might be an unwitting traitor helping the Midnight Sun, which is apparently why Langris only got off with admonishment and allowed him to continue fighting in the tournament. We also learned that Xerxe is an avenger of sorts, going after corrupt and evil Magic Knights. How will the match go? Find out tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami!

Seems odd they're seemingly trying to lock it up, but death slotted the last few episodes of season 3? I don't get it.

Well now we all feel silly for saying that Toonami dropped the ball not getting Dr. Stone, or that it was one of the deals that fell through. My Hero Academia kicked all the way to 4AM! T__T Wait, it will be over by then? So reruns? And Lupin was majorly demoted. But not Food Wars? https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/08/16-1/science-rules-when-dr-stone-comes-to-toonami So this is definitely part of the Crunchyroll deal. So I guess it worked out better than I thought it would. I wish they could have gotten it sooner, but better late than never, I suppose!

fire force Fire Force Episode 3: Discussion

She really doesn't look like Maka to me. Just because of the hairstyle? Maka has green eyes and blonde hair, and looks different facially. Maka is skinnier and even more petite and completely flat, or nearly? Tamaki is petite too but still has actual T'n'A-- *googles for comparison pics but finds out other information as well* Wait, Maka was that young? I could have sworn her (and the rest of the cast) were older than that. Looks like the others are older, but I can't find any age given for Liz and Patty... THEY NEVER GAVE THEIR AGES IN THE SHOW GOD DAMMIT!-- -

It looked like water. Could have been foam. Whatever the case, fire fighters use both, and they're portrayed as regular fire fighters that work together with the Fire Soldiers. I wonder when the pyrokinetic concept will be explained. If they've always been around or if they got their powers around the time Infernals showed up, and if they're related. -

https://comicbook.com/anime/2019/08/11/fire-force-tamaki-shinra-lucky-lecher-lure-scene-toonami-censorship-controversy/ https://comicbook.com/anime/2019/08/12/fire-force-censorship-toonami-not-responsible-anime/ Mochi got quoted for this story! Does Demarco not see how unhelpful and useless this answer is? YOU WORK THERE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. And I fucking hate that shrug emoji, by the way. Actually, I just remembered an ask.fm post of his I read recently - https://ask.fm/Clarknova/answers/155256159721 I guess that doesn't embed... Here - Why did you guys have to edit Food Wars? The nudity is entirely Barbie doll-esque. I don't see how it's different from Kill la Kill's last episode, which got to run uncensored. about 1 month ago I’ll answer this for future posterity: I have nothing to do with any edits made to any of our shows, that’s entirely in the hands of our Standards and Practices department. I don’t know why one scene may be edited and another may not. They tell us what needs to go, sometimes we appeal, sometimes we win the appeal and sometimes we don’t. Either way, complaining to me about edits won’t help you. Sorry. You answered that for future posterity, but didn't link to it when people asked about the Fire Force edit. Ok, then. How many people does he really think look at ask compared to his twitter? So, Standards & Practices is responsible. Sometimes they appeal the edits, and sometimes they win, sometimes they don't. But something tells me Demarco rarely if ever appeals fan service edits, and doesn't make much of an effort if and when he even does. Still, that doesn't change the fact of how nonsensical this edit was, given everything else that has shown on ASA and Adult Swim's incarnation of Toonami over the years. I mean, basically the only thing in SAO that was edited was that extremely graphic and gratuitous rape scene in Alicization. All the rest of the fan service, including Kirito tripping and landing on Asuna and grabbing her boob "on accident," very similar to the Tamaki scene, was left in. Kirito decapitating Oberon after he ripped Asuna's clothes and assaulted her was okay to show, along with Raios and Humbert being dismembered after their attempted rape (is this a pattern I'm sensing?), all the other fucked up stuff in SAO was okay to show. Miroku and Roshi have pretty much been allowed to be in their glory all the time over the years. Helsing was only edited when it came to fucking a corpse. Everything else was perfectly fine. Attack on Titan, little to no edits that I can recall with all the violence there. Deadman Wonderland had very few edits and I think most of those were on the Japanese end. Akame ga Kill and Tokyo Ghoul's edgelord content remained intact. Kill la Kill only had a handful of subtle edits with most of the fan service and sexual stuff of that show left alone. But you edit out grabbing a boob and a butt, the same thing Kirito, Miroku, and other characters have done over the years? Is it because his hands went under her top and pants? (Why did no one link to the clip before now?!) I mean, I still feel like the things I listed and still others are as bad or worse than that. Oh, and - While I definitely agree and won't complain that the face sitting scene was left in that just makes this all make even less sense that this was okay to show a few minutes later in the same episode! And add on to all of this, Demarco's aversion to fan service in general, and this baffling edit, they get fucking Food Wars, knowing full well the gimmick of the show, being filled with foodgasms and nudity at every turn. There is no consistency here as far as this edit. There's been a new merger, but I don't know if that would make much of a difference. Even before this, the different companies that were part of Turner, Demarco had mentioned how it didn't really help with getting rights to stuff (think he may have been referring to JoJo back then?), and companies still acted separate. Not sure if that would change now. I don't think that's much of a factor and personally I chalk this up to classic Adult Swim/Toonami/Demarco nonsense. -

Well if you want to say that because it's not written by the original author. But I would argue that's not a bad thing in this case lol. Either way, there's still a manga. Going by traditional definition, if it's not in the manga, it's filler, usually. But I just can't see the bridge girl episodes as filler! Hell this feels more like filler than that does lol.
