    Shikamaru of all people should be able to avoid brainwashing. So the flowers are part of the brainwashing. Slicing them and spreading the scent is a bad idea, Shikamaru. He got Ro, too. Damn. That's why the flowers were in his cell. Even if Gengo is killed or knocked out, I don't see how they get out of this. That stupid rule was already made that said killing the jutsu caster doesn't undo the jutsu. Unless that was just for re-animation jutsu specifically.

    So that's who Toy Soldier is. We knew he was Rebecca's father, but I didn't expect that he was that legendary warrior from the colosseum. So that's why no one knew who the statue was. I figured he was some ancient warrior lost to history.

    So Sugar forgot to make a contract with Toy Soldier. Either that, or hadn't come up with that strategy yet, and realized how it could backfire. I don't know if that would be better than Toy Soldier just overcoming the spell through willpower or power of love or whatever.
