I accidentally took the meds I'm supposed to take when I go to sleep when I woke up today. One of them doubles as a sleep aid, so made drowsy as hell. After hours nurse line for my clinic said I should be OK and to just not take them again tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to make it through the whole block. I took a nap or tried to. Also the schedule on the Adult Swim site was wrong. Made me think I missed JoJo and Assassination Classroom. Very odd. The block most definitely did not move up an hour!

I would put it more as an affectionate semi-parody/best-of other shonen than "soulless amalgamation." Black Clover definitely has soul and charm. I see things that remind me of things in other shows and I usually like it, because of the parody comedic twist, and/or actually improving on its inspiration. Plus the nostalgic aspect. For one thing, Asta and Yuno are actually convincing and enjoyable as a pair of best friends/brothers/rivals, unlike Naruto and Sasuke. The women in this show aren't incompetent or weak, like most of the women in Naruto. As for MHA, it had a stronger start than Black Clover, but it has disappointed me in some ways over time. The women have barely done anything in the series and many of the side characters seem pointless. Deku and Bakugo's development has been done well but it really seems like the author can't multitask and shouldn't have created all those side characters. Black Clover has done a good job developing the main cast as well as side characters, and the women in the show actually have screen time and battles and do things, and have a role in the plot. But yes it has improved quite a bit, as in how I've relayed in the thread, and anyone else who has been watching the show could tell you.

It seems like some people never gave the show a chance and had their minds made up before they even watched it. Then if they do actually watch a good chunk of Black Clover they don't seem to want to give it the credit it deserves. Not to mention how people always like to jump on a bandwagon and dogpile on a popular target of hate. Comes off as tryhard to me at times. Also some of these people seem way too jaded.

I thought you were going to compare to her Cana from Fairy Tail. Vanessa is a better done character than Cana, though. Vanessa's arc where she got the cat and told the witch bitch queen to fuck off was great! Though this all makes me wonder if women get "beer boobs" instead of the beer bellies men get! Edit - Also, Rangiku's hair is strawberry blonde, or light red.

Has it really been 3 years? I remember the reception the series initially had and the reaction to the Toonami acquisition. And I was ready to sit there and make fun of the show with everyone else. And I gotta say, Asta proclaiming his magic is never giving up was about one of the most corny and cheesiest things I have ever heard! But the first episode wasn't that bad! And I gotta say Black Clover only got better as it went on! And I warmed up to it more and more as it went on and now it's one of the shows I look forward to the most every week! We just had a wrap-up to that huge arc dealing with the elves and I'd say it was pretty satisfying after all was said and done. And I really like the progression and growth of the various characters. Noelle's arc has been especially satisfying to watch. I like how Asta and Yuno come off as believable and genuine best friends and brothers, unlike Naruto and Sasuke. There's also the thing that some people seem to miss, this show is a sort of semi-parody of the shonen genre and anime in general. So all those over-the-top gimmicks the characters have? It's intentional. Asta is the epitome of the happy go lucky determined protagonist with a handicap. He had no magic so he literally had to constantly work out and train physically to get strong. I do like that he is apparently not as oblivious as some other protagonists, as he recently seemed somewhat aware of Noelle's feelings for him, whereas Yami was totally clueless about Charlotte. Noelle is more ridiculous than any tsundere I've ever come across. She has arguments with herself inside her own head and even got jealous of a little girl spending time with Asta. But I think it's hilarious and adorable. And again, I've really enjoyed her growth and development over the course of the series. When she whipped Solid's ass it was so satisfying. Grey is the most exaggerated and over the top shy and embarrassed anime girl ever, which is just hilarious to me. If Grey doesn't prove the parody concept, I don't know what would. Yami. He gives no fucks and does he what he wants. Moreover, he makes fun of literally everyone and everything in the show, almost to a fourth wall level. There was one episode where the captains met and Yami sat there and basically made fun of everyone the whole time. Then he flat out asked Vangeance if he uses Light Magic. You'd never see that in other shows. Yami definitely proves the parody concept. As well, I think the anti-racist, anti-classist, general anti-discrimination message Black Clover puts forward, as well as how the women are handled in the series, is commendable.

Black Clover Character Poll Results

I don't know what is wrong with these people. They must not have female cousins or sisters to have this fetish. Or if they do, they are even sicker fucks than I thought. Maybe it has something to do with living on an island. They are stuck on an island so they have no choice but to fuck their sisters, by their logic? I have noticed incest seems really popular in both Japan and Britain, both island nations. Or maybe their repressive cultures leads to more depraved perversions. Who knows.
