  1. Did that Root Head demon appear before or did they make up that battle retroactively for this? We got an undies shot! Proof Towa is a girl! And you could tell she had breasts when she did that lunging overhead sword swing at the end! And I don't know why she is wearing that suit! It does look like Colonel Sanders lmao. Setsuna is just like Sesshomaru LOL. And Moroha acts like Inuyasha. But I don't know if he ever acted that cocky? And she called herself Beniyasha hahaha. So one of the Demon Slayers is Sota, and people are saying the other one is Miroku and Sango's son? If he he's grown up by now, how old would Sango and Miroku be by now? No we don't need another Shippo! Looks like a Tanooki this time. Who is the person in the back with brown hair? That isn't Shippo grown up, is it?! And how is Kaede still alive and looks exactly the same?!
  2. Oh Demarco is going to revel in that airing of Bebop, then. The world didn't need sequels to Fooly Cooly, eifher! HIYOOOOOOOOO! Oh wow didn't know a Dailymotion video would embed LOL. What happened to all the hiyo clips on YouTube?! Wow I didn't realize it was that close. I must have been thinking of Space Coast to Coast as more when Adult Swim started, a spiritual predecessor, if you will. But, wow, I didn't realize that SGC2C started all the way back in 1994!
  3. No, it's just obnoxious and annoying.
  4. You really think it's so guaranteed Toonami will air Bleach and Yasha-Hime? (Is Yasha-Hime what it is actually called?) I don't have such high confidence in Demarco anymore. He has disappointed me more and more over the years, and his handling of the pandemic has been abysmal. It shows Demarco can't react to crisis or adapt or think on his feet at all. Hell, they don't even know when the rights to their own shows expire! Why would they get Shaman King? Isn't that like a super kiddy Pokémon tier anime? Thinking of Bleach, how has Viz been doing with dubbing during the pandemic? Not sure what shows they have going lately. And yeah, they better keep the Ocean cast for Yasha-Hime!
  5. Did they really already spend so much of their money on shows they thought would be ready to go as usual? Even Fire Force and SAO shouldn't have drained their bank accounts so much since shows of that caliber didn't ever air by themselves in the past. Usually there would be umpteen more premieres on top of them. I thought Funimation cut them deals too. Not sure about Aniplex. Yes now is the perfect time to air all those shows! Yeah but they wouldn't they have to pay to get Paranoia Agent? And Demarco claims that old shows and reruns are no cheaper than new shows. He could have got us something we never saw before on the network instead. It makes me wonder what they would have replaced MHA with the pandemic didn't happen.
  6. LOL this guy put the whole show up and even left their logo up and Funi don't even care?
  7. Naw Demarco can be pretty low effort too, except when he decides to be fucking Nobel prize winning peace envoy to get fucking Gundam back. But for anything the fans might actually want to watch it is a crap shoot of how much effort he will give, and he definitely won't try as hard, if at all, if he personally doesn't like the show as much.
  8. I agree with most of what you said, but there were some perks to the old ways of finding and watching movies and TV shows. It was a whole experience going to the video store to pick something out. You would also be more likely to find out about something new you ordinarily wouldn't watch, than today. Nowadays people pick out what they want to watch and watch it, or stay pretty well in the lane of stuff they already like. In the video store, you had shelves upon shelves of movies right in front of your face, walls even. A much larger field of view than any screen and you saw more at once than you would on a streaming menu. Would I have found out about the Jack Frost horror movie if I didn't see it on a video store shelf and pick it up, enticed by the holographic cover of a killer snowman? On TV a similar sort of thing can happen. You may stumble onto something you wouldn't ordinarily find out about or watch, just by surfing through channels, looking at the TV Guide channel when that came out and later the DVR channel guides, or something that would come on before or after something you were already watching. You would really open your horizons in these ways. On the other hand there are other things that were not so great. Having to pay each time to watch something, whether it was renting or buying, the lesser video and audio quality of VHS and the TVs back then, movies being cropped for home viewing, and you rarely had a big enough TV to make you want to watch the letterbox version (a cool scene of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park briefly standing up on its haunches in the old scientifically inaccurate upright stance in the distance after it gives up the chase of the jeep, a nice touch, is cut off the side of the screen, and I swear the scene of Ellie picking up a prehistoric leaf and talking about it is gone from the home VHS release,) VHS tapes degrading over time, the joys of tracking to clean up the picture on a degrading one, of course after a while they became unwatchable, tapes getting randomly eaten by VCRs, having to clean VCR heads, movies being edited on TV for content (Pacino in Scarface calling someone a "COCK-A-ROACH!" ) and time (whenever Creepshow aired on TV they cut the final cockroach story entirely, and I swear I didn't pick these two examples on purpose.) Of course the movies were almost always cropped when shown on TV. I tell you, I don't miss the days of having to pay 20 dollars or whatever it was for 4 episodes a tape of DBZ, from Suncoast. Streaming is a much better deal. And if I could afford to buy shows again they would be cheaper too! Unless I buy from Aniplex. Anything else anime related you had to go to the mall, shirts etc. Of course, everything at the mall was more expensive, even if it could be a fun experience, and then anime and merch for it was more expensive on top of the "mall upcharge," due to being a specialty item. I don't remember there being a huge section at the video store either. I do believe I rented the Vampire Hunter D movies, the Armitage movies, Ghost in the Shell, and Broly, off the top of my head. I think I made copies of some of them. Later I found out you could rent some anime for free from the library! I watched Metropolis that way. No idea if they still do that. Late fees were annoying. Funny enough, Blockbuster got rid of them to entice people back, but it only hastened their demise, without all the money they made from late fees! It does make me wonder what the anime industry and fandom in the U.S. would look like now, if say, TV and format quality increased, but streaming didn't take off like it did and Blockbuster and Hollywood (I preferred them, and Game Crazy, didn't deserve to down with them,) were still king, and anime was as popular as it now. Would it be on TV a lot more? Though maybe anime wouldn't even have grown in popularity like it did without streaming. I don't know why but for some reason anime being on TV less makes it feel less mainstream. But then I see anime among the top shows watched on Hulu and then I see Seven Deadly Sins is one of the top ten watched shows on Netflix this week (Demarco shakes fist.) I guess it is all perception.
  9. So Broly isn't evil in the new movie? And gets a girlfriend? LOL I thought Toriyama said he forgot he made Broly and said he hated him and Kale was supposed to be an improved version? Less cool because he is canon? Still I don't care what Toriyama says. Whether it is through forgetfulness, simply wanting to retcon, even up to characters' personalities for some ungodly reason, or pure senility, he actively worsens his story and characters with the new "canon" movies, Super, and the BS he announces or says in interviews. None of that shit is canon. Dragon Ball ended when Toriyama put down the pencil on the original manga. Sometimes I wonder if he even goes back and reads or watches the original Dragon Ball and DBZ, since everything since then conflicts so much with that, and people are out of character. Hey, remember when Goku wasn't a moronic sociopath?
  10. LOL you talking about the guy who totally got off for killing Hayate? It wasn't even addressed after the Sand became allies!
  11. Damn I meant to write fight not find lol. She wasn't one of the ones who was guarding 3rd Hokage, right? Oh that's right they all got beat by the Sound Four, didn't they? lol. Ah I don't remember that. I just remember laughing at the show trying to make it a big deal that Hayate died lol. Now it is even funnier how this episode is trying to make it an even bigger deal that HE has been revived. Ah ok.
  12. Oda makes many of the villains over the top evil like that. At least he doesn't make them rapists like Reki lol. But he will also hit with a sledgehammer like that to drive the message home. And as cartoonishly evil as the World Nobles are, their behavior had real world historical precedent. Columbus would make the natives carry his men around on their backs or he would have their hands cut off. That shit for some reason was not taught to us in school at all. I have even see a documentary that made Columbus out to be this sympathetic guy who Spain mistreated and it was all sad about how he has a shitty pauper's grave and was considered a failure by Spain. Spain actually removed him as governor from his colony for tyranny. Even Spain thought he was too much of a tyrant! I don't think Luffy ever thought there was a pirate way. He just beats up people for being assholes. In fact him saying he is a pirate causes him all kinds of problems, since the other pirates in the series are like real historical pirates and not good people at all, and that is how everyone assumes Luffy and his crew are like. But the Straw Hats are like the fictional romanticized idea of pirates as charming mischievous adventurers just out to have fun exploring the world and finding treasure. So it is a weird thing going on in the series. Yeah, some early marine characters were corrupt but you didn't get the idea they were a wholly bad organization, and even though it was called the World Government I took it as more a benevolent one and not evil despite being the government of the entire world, which is usually considered a bad thing in fiction and real life. It came off as benevolent and there was just the World Government and "the Navy" because Oda didn't want to complicate it by making all these governments and navies and just have your general government and navy, and pirates scenario. It fit with the simple cartoony world. There is also that rebellion that has apparently been going on this entire time but there is no sense of it at all for most of the series up until then and barely affects most of what is going on in the main story. The World Government is fighting this huge war with rebels (somewhere ELSE we never saw apparently LOL,) but will waste resources chasing Luffy around. Or the fact they can even spare the resources. Even the biggest empires can be stretched thin or run low on resources! I dunno to hear some fans it is a meticulously planned and plotted and masterful storytelling. Though to me it seems the story got longer as Oda came up with more ideas and added and expanded to the story and world. But people I think give Oda way too much credit. I don't consider some guy showing up again after a hundred episodes to be epic writing ability. If anything, some characters are fine to leave a story permanently once their main original arc and role is done. Or have the dozens of people that "died" actually DIE! It's also annoying to me at times when something is left hanging for that long. I wonder if it was ever said why that Navy girl looks just like Zoro's childhood friend lol. I was curious about her but then her and Smoke stopped chasing Luffy and were written out of the story mostly. And having something set up or referenced, or foreshadowed, then followed up later, is basic writing and storytelling stuff. I don't know if people are more impressed because sometimes it takes hundreds of episodes for things to come to fruition from initial setups, references, or foreshadowing, or they are too used to other series that can't even manage to follow up on the stuff they set up. But it just shows that One Piece is fairly competently made, but they act like it is shonen Shakespeare!
  13. I wasn't talking about your Beetles example which has nothing to do with anything. Just because the Beetles were making "just songs" doesn't mean everyone was. Many artists are definitely trying to send a message or teach a lesson of some sort. How do you know Yuki Tabata isn't, especially with what is shown in the series? The other way you could interpret Yami being the only Japanese guy in the kingdom is it is meant like showing the audience falling into this world. Except Yami isn't the main character and isn't the typical fish out of water character at all, not a character most authors would create for the audience to identify with. He is a grungy musclehead with some pretty gross habits and he spends most of the time making fun of the other characters and the world, almost fourth wall level, part of the shows parody aspect. Like that time be spent a whole episode making fun of the other captains and flat out asked Vangeance if he uses Light Magic. You'd never see that in other shonen. But despite all this, Yami isn't just a dumb, gross brute, he is a pretty good guy and agrees with the Wizard King's ideals. Haha we actually agree on this. Over the top G Gundam is the only good one. Others have annoying characters and the anti-war message is way too preachy and pretentious. The show is literally saying that racism and discrimination is bad, as is classism. Yami is the only Japanese guy in the kingdom and treated shitty for being a foreigner - reversing the positions to put the audience in the foreigners' position. Japan is well known for being racist, ignorant, xenophobic, and hostile to foreigners. I'm sure this is just a coincidence and the show was really just meant to be mindless magical entertainment the whole time! While unknown if it's meant to be a message, the women are pretty strong and competent in this series, which is commendable given how other shonens and anime in general treat women, and how Japan treats women in general. One Piece has a corrupt evil government, and yes, lets those nobles do whatever they want, including owning slaves. The show uses Fishmen as an example to say racism is bad. The show never says evil pirates are good so not sure why you mention that. The government also has their own sanctioned pirates they let do whatever they want, which has historical precedent. Bleach also has a corrupt, evil government as do many other animes. There is even inequality in the afterlife. Yeah I am pretty sure we were all taught in school what slavery was and that it was bad? Same age group One Piece is geared for. Straw Hats are like your classic happy go lucky friendly pirates that love adventure, kind of like the Blue Rogues from Skies of Arcadia, actually. I think the Blue Rogues also had a Robin Hood thing going on too. And they fight against an evil Monarchy. At least Blue Rogues steal shit (from bad people.) Straw Hats don't even do that and really should just call themselves adventurers or explorers or something. But they want to play pretend pirste too much I guess. But I'm sure these are all just coincidences. There's no reason an author would ever have an issue with government or feel the need to criticize it in their story. There's no reason to show racism or say it's bad. It's all just mindless entertainment! Nothing to deeper to see here!
  14. It was meant to show how badass the enemy was that they could take down Anbu, but was too much and ruined the Anbu's credibility. Especially since so many of the battles were off-screen or quick and made the anbu look like low-level security guards or something.
  15. Yeah it is digital editing that is true. Not sure why it wasn't redone. Maybe Toei wouldn't budge on the release time or contracts or something. I think it was probably too late by then either way. Really? I thought I heard this movie was supposed to do better with Broly's character LOL. Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan and an evil Super Saiyan which is a novelty in an of itself. Plus he looks badass. I thought Broly was pretty cool but I have heard some people say he is like a parody of a Dragon Ball character because he is always angry and just screams all the time and punches things. Which is even funnier because the Vic cultists acted like him being replaced as Broly was a big deal, as if Broly is such an important part of the Dragon Ball universe! He's a filler movie villain! It would be like if Funi replaced the voice of Cooler. Broly is not some central figure to the franchise. I mostly watch dubs but watch subs too. Usually I would see a dub first. I saw DB, Kenshin, and InuYasha in Japanese becuase of the movies. In the last 2 cases they didn't have dubs yet, and some of my first DVDs were DBZ movies and I would watch the Japanese too just out of curiosity and the novelty of it. Yeah it's bad, especially as the VAs get older and older. Goku and Gohan should have changed voices when they grew up. At least Krillin has the excuse of being short, but still another guy voiced by an old lady trying and failing to sound like a young guy.
  16. Me too I had it muted when that show started and almost missed Shippuden!
  17. Oh, she didn't find the Sound Four or any of the Sand or Sound ninjas back then, did she? Filler writers once again making use of Kishimoto's forgotten and sidelined characters lol.
  18. LOL but being a member of the Anbu isn't so prestigious. Don't forget how "ELITE" they are.
  19. It was pretty funny when she got that she-hulk strength during the time skip to Shippuden but still got sidelined after that lmao.
  20. LOL that explains it. No wonder they are so terrible!
  21. Have we seen the purple hair girl before?
  22. Nooo not the coughing guy we were so attached to him and so sad when he died!
  23. Are you awake? Oh, Anko is going to... NOPE nothing for her even filler LOL.
  24. Taking things to the next level of filler?! KABUTO YOU MONSTER!
