I caught up on the TWO JoJo episodes I missed thanks to being out driving through a big trail of Christmas lights a decent drive from home. I didn't expect JoJo to die. Very sad about that. I'm surprised we skipped a generation, though. I thought Erina would raise the baby she saved along the one she had from JoJo as brothers/siblings, and hopefully this time the adopted brother would't be evil. If we're already in 1938, the show is going to run out of time in future arcs! Unless... it goes into the future way later on? : o The JoJo of this arc is kind of fruity with how he talks and acts, but I like his weird sense of humor and his anger management issues, haha. Plus, he's like the Sherlock Holmes or Psych of warriors, with how he's so super-observant and "predicts the future", haha. This is gonna get really good, I have a feeling. So, That One Guy who was studying under Tom Petty decided to become evil! And there's a whole slew of masks, plus an ancient slumbering Emperor! And I'm still not clear if the ancient culture is supposed to be the Mayans or Aztecs? Either way, it seems we're not done with vampires, and we get to hear more of Dave Mallow! For some reason I thought he had Byakuya's VA in Part 1, though. "I know what you'll say next." "Too much time meditating in the Tibetan boonies has dulled your senses." "Straitzoaf" Oh yeah, I like Smokey, and it was nice to see Joseph stand up for him against the cops and in the restaurant.

I enjoy the high school stuff with Gohan. Especially what's about to come up. Too bad the Otherworld Tournament won't get to see the light of day on modern Toonami, though. Apparently it was filler. But I liked it!

Well I'm glad Videl's voice didn't change then. It sounded the same as her old voice to me.

Without that recap we might have been able to see a certain superhero sooner! So what is the score for this? Taken from the original DBZ, or something completely original?

He jumped up, no, flew, that high and through the ball at super speed! So much for his cover story! Gohan doesn't even know what his dominant hand is? Really? Then again when I played some sports (badly), I didn't use my left hand, except for bowling. And I use a mouse better with my left hand. Maybe that's what it is. I mean, he's never played baseball before. That blonde guy has a design kind of like the Androids.

"I'm Erasa and the sourpuss behind me is Videl." Videl is an anagram for Devil, heh. Keeping that name theming going. I love Videl but Erasa is pretty cut herself. Huge knockers! Gohan your cover story is crap if even in this futuristic world you couldn't have flown in a conventional vehicle here that fast!

Carl - Oh, good. And I think I saw on the channel guide that this is a Universal Century show, too. I hope there's no characters like Amuro in it.

All that recap... like 6 or 8 minutes in and we finally get to "Gohan is a high school student." Videl! <3 Anybody know if her voice changed? Been a while but it sounds similar. Oh hey, it's these student friends of Gohan and Videl... I'm sure they'll go on to be very important! "Transfer students"... always such a tradition in anime. "What kind of name is Gohan?" ROFL Seriously, though, it means cooked rice or something. Almost all the Dragonball characters are named after food, random objects, and/or jokes. Of course many of the original characters were based on the original Journey to the West characters, but after that... we've got the underwear family, vegetable aliens, etc...

Yeah. I have no idea. It's like something out of a bad kids show. x_x Yeah GT wasn't all bad. A nice what-if story, and I liked how it was more like the original Dragonball, though I still think it should've focused more on the next generation and not Goku again. I think Pan is still going to be conceived. Wasn't she inside Videl in the Battle of Gods movie or whatever?

I thought the classic cel animation of Dragonball/Z looked better. Super is so overly bright and vivid, and lacking in detail and contrast. The art and character designs seem a bit different in Super as well. I suppose I'll get used to it eventually. But, to me, the old stuff looks better.

The New Year's Banner is from Bleach. Nice. Rebels mid-season premiere was great tonight. I also caught up on past weeks of JoJo and some other stuff, plus other things on my DVR, so I'd have space to record tonight's Toonami. Anybody new to Dragonball Z, or at least those who first started watching since Toonami's airing of Kai, however few they may be, are going to be very confused. Thankfully, I think most of us have seen Dragonball/Z countless times and should be fine? Hell, we were okay when Dragonball Z was played before Dragonball, and then both concurrently. This show isn't like X-files or anything. You can miss stuff and watch things out of order and follow along just fine I think. And I see we've got all the ASMB emoticons back, plus a redeco of the background and forum in general! Nice!

Yeah, no more Faulconer score. But at least we don't have to suffer through Justin Cook's, Sean Schemmel's, and Sonny Strait's "singing" during that ensemble version of Dragonsoul in the official score!

Eh, I like Goten. I wouldn't say that's true at all. The whole thing with him is he's more like Goku, but not as tactless. Gohan was more gentle and not really like Goku. Goten's new voice is horrible, though.

People remember alien invaders (the Saiyans), but completely forgot about Goku saving the world from King Piccolo, and the World Martial Arts Tournaments where people used special powers, including flying. It wasn't that long ago, and anyone who wasn't alive back then should have, well... records they can read/watch/whatever. Never heard of a scent like that. Must have been made up for this joke.
