  1. THE END TO FILLER NEXT WEEK! YES! https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/naruto-shippuden https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/bleach What this? Shippuden only has a filler percentage rate of 43%?! And Bleach has 46%?! Well, it sure feels longer and less tolerable in Shippuden! Maybe it's because Shippuden has 500 episodes and Bleach only had 366. Then again I'm pretty disillusioned with the Naruto franchise in general at this point, so that probably doesn't help.
  2. EPISODE 6 DISCUSSION REBOOTED Yep, since the last episode switched from Underworld to the real world, my last recap was worthless. But! This time will be different! Last time on Sword Art Online: Alicization, Asuna, along with her and Kirito's friends, tried to find his whereabouts after he was moved from his original hospital after the attack by Johnny Black, the second half of Death Gun and member of Aincrad player killer guild Laughing Coffin. She got ahold of Kayaba's girlfriend and co-developer, Rinko Kojiro, and together they made their way to the ocean platform where Underworld was being run and Kirito was being held. Yui, a fake ID, and a brilliant disguise got Asuna in the door. Kikouka has an angry Asuna to deal with! Just what is going on with Kirito? Find out tonight, on Sword Art Online: Alicization, on Toonami! Alright, let's try this again...
  3. It's more of a hope than a theory, but yeah. T__T What the heck, is there like some kind of meta-universe for your anime idea? o_O Yeah! Man, it just has to come back some day! So many great moments in that arc that deserve to be animated and seen and experienced by more people!
  4. I'm a completionist myself, but, the rerun at the end of the block won't get done by the time the new season gets here? Attack on Titan definitely isn't a show you can just jump in the middle of, either. I'm sure people will find a way. Most of the Gundam series have been wastes of time. I've only liked G Gundam so far, and the first season of Iron Blooded Orphans. Then they had to go ruin it with season 2! But's all just an opinion and not a fact, of course. =3 Yeah I think you're right. I'm not even sure if the episode was half-way done at that point? Either way, the damn brain-in-box ruined everything, so it's probably best to start fresh!
  5. Dear Kami, I hope not. That would be a waste of a slot, a waste of everyone's time, and rerunning Attack on Titan at the front helped torpedo the block the last time it was done. And given the pacing, the suspense building, constant cliffhangers, mystery building, etc., AoT doesn't have a whole lot of re-watch value. You just wanna' get to the next thing.
  6. I remember when somebody was complaining to Demarco either on Twitter or Ask about them having not having any Dragon Ball, and Demarco said they don't need it. It's funny with how they jumped on Kai as soon as it was available, and how dependent they've become on Dragon Ball now. I'm sure they could survive without it, and I hope they've been making preparations.
  7. My pipe dream is that Toonami is secretly co-funding the anime for the final Bleach arc. Bleach: Bankai, has a nice ring to it. Bleach always did great ratings for ASA and Toonami, was the series that kept ASA going long enough for the Toonami return experiment to even be viable, and Bleach fans stuck around for the following shows a lot more than those weird Dragon Ball Only anime fans. But yeah they're going to need something to take Super's place and I don't think rerunning it is a good idea. I hope they've been preparing.
  8. Yeah, all the people that were laughing at SAO's airing getting botched last week now have another full hour of SAO to look forward to! Courtesy of Toonami! Enjoy!
  9. Was another thread really necessary for this? After we had the episode thread, the Sword Art Offline thread, then CountFrylock made yet another thread with Demarco addressing the issue, and now this thread. I swear Al just makes some threads just for the sake of being the OP of "big" threads like when some news like this breaks, even though it's not necessary. I won't really complain about him grabbing so many episode threads because no one really cares about the "competition" anymore, where that competition was always who has the best atomic clock and not the quality of the OP itself, and many of us are too lazy to make the episode threads, no one gives a shit about certain shows, or we just plain forget. I guess we're all getting old. But, redundant threads are redundant. If we weren't going to discuss the glitch issue in the episode thread, one additional thread, Poke's perfectly titled Sword Art Offline thread, was all that was needed. On the topic of how many threads, should we make another episode thread for episode 6, or reuse last week's thread? Does the episode thread were the glitch happened need to be preserved for posterity and historical significance? Some people seem to think that this incident is interesting because of how rarely this happens. For me, it's just annoying and a hassle, this time, and any other time this has happened, like with Big O and Eureka 7. Though it was more thoughtlessness than a glitch with Eureka 7, since they cut legit content "for time" intentionally. For when episodes 7 and 8 air, I think one thread should be necessary even though it's not one episode like with the premiere? Then people don't have to worry about clicking into a new thread to continue the discussion. Anyway, I am glad they are re-airing the episode they botched. I don't know why they are so insistent on SAO not being behind an episode, but they are and so we have another hour of SAO coming up. I am quite frankly shocked that we don't know what the Megalo replacement is, and especially that Demarco can't even name it. So it's not because it's a "surprise," which by the way, surprises don't help with a new show starting out that people need to know what it is and that it's airing to be there to watch and/or set their DVRs. Promoting something kind of actually matters. I gotta wonder how this would have panned out if the glitch didn't happen. You'd think they'd be more on top of things than to be negotiating down the last minute.
  10. Was this thread mislabeled? I can't find an episode 22 Boruto thread anywhere.
  11. LMAO WUT?! SERIOUSLY DEMARCO?! It's almost like this display of incompetence is an advertisement for people to not use cable and watch Demarco's block and instead find the shows streaming online.
  12. I see. Well, if it's a case of author death, I don't know that I'd want to start watching it, anyway. Unless everything was laid out and plotted out beforehand, it's not going to be the author's original vision anymore. Even before knowing this, it still seems kinda eehhh... seems like there is some pandering and cringy stuff going on with it, if you get what I mean. And that is unfortunate. I also learned that I had been mispronouncing BlazBlue all these years, when Jim Sterling did his mispronunciation joke thing with BlazBlue when he talked about the RWBY characters being in the game. It's "BlazeBlue and not "BlazzBlue." x_x
  13. Oh, so then you don't have full bitching rights, either! You need to go back and re-watch everything before you can talk! Anyway, Naraku could vouch for this. I may have been going off what he said, too. In either case, all I can judge is what's been presented in front of me. But yeah, Hunter Exam was definitely a slog. Remember when there was a whole episode of the characters running? I'm not sure what you're referring to specifically. I mean, if someone doesn't find characters likable or relatable, no amount of facts or elaboration is going to change that person's mind. If it's a matter of a show being too talky, and I like a show like that? Like Moribito? But I like those characters and that world, and found the discussions interesting. A whole episode is spent on Chagum dismantling this gambling scam artist, and it was enjoyable to me. Stuff like this happens all the time in HxH. Sorry if I don't find candle games enthralling. Or whatever that game was with Killua's butler. It was just stupid. That sort of stuff was done better in pre-card game Yugioh than any similar examples in HxH. HxH thinks this stuff is so clever and interesting, but it isn't. I called HxH directionless? Well, people are calling JoJo: Diamond is Unbreakable directionless, too, you might say. But the thing is, the stories we follow in JoJo are actually interesting and entertaining, as opposed to wherever HxH might decide to meander. It's just executed better. And again, likable characters help. What I did notice was that the direction of the plot for this part of the arc wasn't obvious at first, as it was happening and building up, but there is a direction to this arc that we can see now, in spite of what people have said. At the same time, I can't really say watching a whole episode of Gon trying to get through a door was compelling or worth reaching the ultimate destination. It's just not interesting. And I hear they spend a whole episode antiquing later on? Eh. Like I said, plodding, and nothing happens, nothing interesting, anyway. When I look at episode count for the HxH episodes I watched and compare it to just about anything else, it's no contest. One's time would be better spent watching almost anything else. I could have watched some great 13, 26, or 52 episode series, or some good arcs from some long-runners with the time I wasted on this show. And the first episode hook is nonexistent compared to any other shonen. Just about any shonen I can rattle off, Dragon Ball, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Black Clover, all give you a good feel for the world and gets you to want to join the characters on their adventure. With HxH, you don't get that all, and then people tell you to keep watching, it's going to get good. No, a show needs to be good from the beginning. Start off good and get better, maybe, but not start out as crap with a supposed promise to one day get good. People talked this show up for years about how it was God's Gift to Shonen, the greatest shonen ever made, it's so subversive and DARK, dude! Because those last two things are supposed to make it good in and of themselves, for some reason. And I'm like... what are you talking about, when I finally saw the show. This is a whole a lot of nothing. Maybe I overlook similar flaws in series I enjoy because they have other things going for them that massively outweigh these flaws and redeem them in my eyes, or I don't find the flaws to be flaws. It's hard to say without you giving examples.
  14. Hey now, Alicization has majorly dialed back on the fan service.
  15. Oh god, I hope not. I haven't read the manga either. But, right now in the anime - Vic will definitely be replaced, since Funi already kicked him to the curb a while ago, but what you're getting at is we're still going to remember from when Mard Geer was played by Vic anyway. Ugh, yeah.
  16. One thing from the last arc I forgot to comment on. When Natsu found that Heat Blade I thought for sure he would have this badass sword going forward, but Zeref broke it. D: It makes me wonder if Mashima thought of giving Natsu a sword but changed his mind. Oh well. I finally got caught up last week! I'm finally watching Fairy Tail new, whoo! I may have missed out on this show for a good while beause I naively held off on it thinking ASA or Toonami might get it and I could discuss it with everyone here (won't make that mistake with a show again; now, if I'm really interested in something, I'm going to watch it, Toonami be damned,) and I got sidetracked and dragged my feet for a long time, even when we got the final season announcement and as it aired, and I didn't read the manga so I didn't experience that "live," either, but I am at least going to get to enjoy the final arc of the anime as it airs, damn it! It looks like the dub is 3 or 4 episodes behind? So Fairy Tail is a simuldub? That's not what I would call a simuldub, though. Space Dandy, and Dimension W... such as it was, aired concurrently with the Japanese version. Anyway, the Japanese VAs are good enough but since I prefer dubs I'm definitely going to want to re-watch those episodes dubbed. Unsure if I should do that as they are released or wait and marathon them in one go. Re-watching each episode a few weeks behind the current ones is definitely on odd way of watching, but I don't know that I want to wait to see them in English until the series is over, either. Hmm. I'll probably just go back and watch them as soon as they come out in English, if I remember and can navigate around Funi's player easily enough. I see what you guys were talking about with the animation cheats and shortcuts. It is unfortunate. It doesn't seem as bad as the first anime, at least, but that's not saying much. The art quality is better than the first anime at least, seems more or less the same style as the second anime. I do hope they stop phoning it in at some point, like Daos said. *sigh* At least the story is good, at least to me, anyway. I don't know if we want to mark spoilers in here or not, but I figure since you guys were nice enough to not post any while I was marathonning through the series, whether intentional or not, I'll mark mine until I can be sure where everyone is in the show. That's all I can remember to comment on for now. x_x At least I can just post about each episode as they come out now.
  17. Fairy Tail Zero - Wow, looks like some guilds were like straight up mafias in this time. And warring as much as they like. Okay the child abuse thing has been played to the hilt. Do we really need more of it? With that speech impediment, Zera should be the one getting bullied, not be the boss of mean girl popular kids. This game makes me think of something the Pharoah would come up with in the pre-card arcs of Yugioh. Hmm, Yugioh Zero. So, I was completely wrong in my guess that Mavis is a fairy or fairy-like being of some sort. She's human. Those wing things in her hair are adornments she wears and she dresses like that just because she likes fairies, I guess. The outfit isn't hiding any wings or a tail etc, so I don't know why her swimsuit scene was kept off-screen in Grand Magic Games. She looks like a young girl because her body got stuck at 13 years old from using that Law spell improperly... That seems excessively silly. Why not just say she goes into a magic coma for a long time, or dies? Or you just have 10 years to live. We learn she was supposed to die in 10 years but apparently it's not from using that spell. More details are going to get filled in with that timeline later, I imagine. So, Fairy Tail's ultimate weapon in a dead 13 year old's nude body trapped in crystal. That seems... problematic. No wonder Makarov doesn't want anyone to know about it. Forgot to talk about the treasure hunters at the giants village. So, we did finally get to see what sort of combat non-magic users are capable of. And we see it again here with the cast of Zero. Cool. Precht, Geoffrey, how OLD are some of these characters?! Do humans live longer in this world, or did they live longer cuz magic? Maybe some dark magic to keep them alive longer? Zeref was part of the Fairy Tail nakama? If even for a short bit? And taught them magic? WHAT?! What and what?! Can't say I saw that coming. And we learn that Zeref's curse only kills everything because he doesn't WANT to kill anything. Okay then. Not sure what his deal is. It is cool to finally have how people use magic fully explained though. I feel like this should have happened sooner. Maybe Precht's background with Zeref is why he became so obsessed with him later and got into black magic. So, Zera was an illusion that Mavis subconsciously created out of loneliness. I did not expect that. That was a mindfuck and heartbreaking. That was some M. Night Shyamalon-level shit! I'm trying to remember if she did anything to directly affect anyone or anything, but it seems like she mostly just hung around. Might have to re-watch. So why didn't the others point this out sooner? Just trying to humor a lonely orphan kid with what they probably originally thought was an imaginary friend? So, does this mean the real Zera's body just laid there and rotted? D: They could have said something about Mavis burying her and blocking it from her memory. Hopefully it just burned up in the fire. Okay, it should have at least been alluded to that the orb treasure was like this, maybe it was and I didn't pick up on it. If it can cause all this destruction then why and how did Blue Skull steal it and what do they have to gain from keeping it around? It just seems like kind of a dumb ass-pull forced thing to cause this whole chain of events to happen, or did I miss something? Also, Dryer is kind of a dumbass. You can tell that Mashima really could not be bothered with creating any distinctive characters outside of the main group for this arc. Heck, even then only Zera and Dryer are actually new major characters. There's of red shirts and a lot of characters that don't even have names or I forgot what they were, and like, he wasn't even trying with some of the designs of those villagers. The mother having a terrible voice actor did not help either. Maybe background characters and red shirts have better designs in the manga? Still... But, maybe it's for the best, if it keeps the arc short and to the point.
  18. What the hell even is RWBY, anyway? From what I can tell, it's some amateur made thing with crappy art and animation that got popular that seems cringey and cheesy and with a fanbase I probably want to avoid.
  19. I've thoroughly explained my issues with the part of HxH I watched many times and you even admitted that those parts weren't done very well in the 2011 anime. I do also like plenty of shows that you like and which are highly regarded by the general consensus. Is that not consolation enough for you? Not that I care what other people like, but apparently you do. I don't know why you feel the need to keep harping on this. You need to take a chill pill and stop getting so worked up and making things personal over entertainment. You need to accept that not everyone is going to like what you like, or dislike what you dislike, and remember that quality of art and entertainment is subjective. You are not the master arbiter of what is good and bad.
