DC Animated movies to play on toonami december 19th
Sketch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
If it's not reruns, then bring it on. It might be the only way we get to see a lot more American action animation on Toonami. Besides, AT&T probably isn't going to be giving Toonami a tremendous acquisitions budget for 2021 (hopefully more than 2020 at least) so stretching material and getting more free movies would help keep things from getting stale. -
DC Animated movies to play on toonami december 19th

I'm all for more DC movies on Toonami and that Wonder Woman one is pretty new even. If we get good movies on Toonami for our trouble then they can shill HBO Max more for all I care. I already have the dang subscription though, I have since the launch in May. -
They occasionally have to renew it I believe.

do you think toonami will have a new years marathon?
Sketch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I don’t expect there will be a marathon on January 2nd. -
Rick & Morty's 'Samurai & Shogun' short is getting a sequel
Sketch replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
You don't know Max. He could be embezzling funds. So the thought dawned on me that this is probably one of those 10 anime projects DeMarco is involved with. -
Well, we won't know what Ass Class can do right after Family Guy unless they try it. A less drastic move would be to put Ass Class at 12:30 and shift down SAO but they probably have plans for 12:30 early in the year. (Not likely Gridman for the record). Or perhaps they could move DBS to 11:30 and let Ass Class have midnight.

Something for them to bitch about other than Gemusetto -
No "Next Time!" Episode promo's last night during toonami
Sketch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I don’t mind sustaining promos just as long as they play them regularly. Are they allergic to lineup promos though? We haven’t had one since February. -
If that doesn’t significantly increase subscriptions, probably nothing will. Aside from just being a boon to HBO Max, this feels like a really responsible move on WarnerMedia’s part. Though health concerns are hardly the only reason they would do this. The content can’t make any money sitting on a shelf. Having the films on Max for 31 days along with putting them in theaters where they can be, gives people options. Disney is in a much better position to simply wait to put out their Marvel movies but WarnerMedia is bleeding and has to try something drastic to stop that bleeding. Hopefully the increase in subscriptions is worth it because they are also giving pirates high quality video to share on day one instead of limiting that to cam footage taken at a theater. Because there’s too many services now and nobody wants to pay for all of them.

Gemusetto death beats to end on december 19th

Because it costs nothing more to rerun Demon Slayer at 3am? -

Well I'm glad we won't have to wait until January to see how this story arc ends. Hopefully they're not doing something like running a DBS marathon until 2am that night. It would be pretty lousy of them to lead into a one hour season finale of Gemusetto with a marathon of reruns for another show. And I don't think they're quite crazy enough to air a rerun marathon of Gemusetto to lead into 4 new segments of it. -
Well they get to air Primal, which is pretty cool IMO. But aside from that they are playing ball when asked by their corporate overlords and there may be benefits to that cooperation at some point.

gemusetto Gemusetto Death Beat(s) Discussion
Sketch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Makasu: "Civil War replicas are for racist nerds!" Makasu: "You're momma's so fat..." Josie: "My mother is a diabetic!" Makasu: "You're momma's so diabetic... She's the sweetest thing I've ever seen" Josie: "We are BEST friends" I got plenty of laughs from these episodes. I wasn't expecting Josie to join the journey but he's a good addition to the crew.- 94 replies

Gemusetto Death Beats Initial Thoughts?
Sketch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well that DID just happen and if they cancel it now then so be it. It had a good run. -
do you think we'll have two marathons in december?
Sketch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It wouldn't be buying time for something currently airing but it could buy time for something that will replace SAO in February. For that matter we have no idea what their budget is gonna look like in 2021 so stretching all their current shows one more week isn't a terrible idea, not that they even need a reason to do it other than "it's close to Christmas". It wouldn't be the first time they had a marathon in October and the last week of November and then two in December. But I would also prefer for them to run the regular line-up on December 19th this year because frankly that's almost a week before Christmas. I just wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they took it off as well. -
I mean despite their moments of levity... Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Casshern Sins, Paranoia Agent, The Promised Neverland and Parasyte are like an endless stream of horrible things happening to their protagonists and side characters. I don't see Primal as any more intense or depressing as those shows could be. And people want to see ReZero on Toonami when that's trauma after trauma. The only thing that makes Primal seem ever so slightly odd for Toonami is it's lack of much dialogue but there were episodes of Samurai Jack which next to no dialogue as well. Ultimately, it's action animation. That was at one point the only criteria for a show to be on Toonami.

SSSS Gridman joins toonami in january

Oh hi, I like sentai and tokutatsu and the American basterdizations of them. -

Oh I meant Big Mouth the Netflix cartoon. I dunno, I think Aqua Teen could have kept going. It wasn't always in top form but it was usually entertaining. Squidbillies is still going (I don't hate that show for the record but it's no Aqua Teen) so why couldn't ATHF? Family Guy much like The Simpsons has settled into a groove of mediocrity, only with much more politics. American Dad is still very funny and surprisingly not that political, Seth mainly voices on that and Family Guy now as opposed to writing them. I can't really think of an American Dad episode that I didn't find amusing. -

You're talking to a guy who busts out laughing at the ipecac scene in Family Guy and the time Master Shake couldn't stop vomiting after drinking something that was supposed to make Meatwad puke up Frylock's microchip. I greatly enjoy lowbrow body function humor. And with that said, I'm pretty sure I've never seen a show specifically use the urethra for a "stick something in something" gag. Not even in something like Big Head which is loaded with anatomy jokes. I also like some dry British comedies, sketch comedy like Monty Python and The Whitest Kids You Know, movies like Anchorman or Billy Madison and spoofs like Space Balls and Kung-Pow Enter the Fist. Generally I have a greater appreciation for witty jokes than crass ones but like I said, some anatomy jokes and particularly puke scenes tend to crack me up. I just remembered that pie eating contest bit from Stand by Me. That was a riot. -

I wouldn't be. They had a marathon on December 19th in 2015 and they have ended the year with two marathon weekends ever since. Even with the current circumstances, I would be surprised if they ran the regular lineup on December 19th. Right now I give it about a 30% chance they will air the regular lineup on December 19th. -
Batman: Soul of the Dragon, and future DC Animated synergy
Sketch replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I'd love to see WarnerMedia put more DC content on Toonami. But I'm not expecting them to do it very often.
