Then, why is my credit score over 800 right now? I read my reports often. I keep my cards zeroed out most of the time and the reports only reflect "high balance", meaning the highest ever owed on a single card. It doesn't reflect how I paid it.

Who said I "needed" to? Didn't you get the part about my paying it all off in a single shot? This is just part of how I keep my credit score in range for a house purchase. Paying cash for the pendant wouldn't do that for me.

First time in more than fifteen years, shopping with an in store credit card. First bill came in at over $400. Couldn't beat the interest terms - 0% for six months when the balance is paid in full within that time. Minimum monthly payments won't clear the balance on time. Puh... I just paid it all off in one shot. Great pendant, by the way.

Why not? The amount grows every year and a house doesn't have to cost as much as they do in NJ. Houses elsewhere will be in my price range.
