  1. I also have a second gripe that she performs with the grace of a brick wall, but that may just be the character she was directed with. Anyway, that Funimation studio, man....
  2. My God people seem VERY split on Hunter! I for one am glad it's got an earlier timeslot, and really enjoy it. 12 hours away from the boards and I see 1.7 new pages of comments. *_*
  3. So they have TWO Dragonball shows, with cliffnotes saying there could be a chance they wouldn't get ratings. You would think TWO DRAGONBALL SHOWS would rake in the big ratings, because it's Dragonball! But no. It appears those cliffnotes are what is poisoning them instead. Kai should be a hit, but it's actually just a rerun of the original Dragonball Z from a decade or so ago, and Super, while having original, brand new stories, just ended their adaptations of the 2 latest movies, and it's sadly one mess of an update!
  4. It's sad to think that the highest rating revived Toonami would ever get would be the first episode of Akame Ga Kill, an anime generally thought to be horrible.
  5. Given how determined the crew seems to be in continuing this block, I think Toonami will be one of the last remaining places on cable. If CN and Adult Swim end before than, maybe they'll even migrate to another place on cable.
  6. Stop using that word until we indeed know if this ended Toonami, which hasn't happened yet.
  7. .... ben, why did you link to that second Milana Vayntrub video??
  8. I can't bother predicting ratings for upcoming weeks anymore, even if it's a game, because it would force me to accept that the ratings are shit, will BE shit, and are ALWAYS shit now, in 2017 and until the block dies. And i'd rather not have that stress in my life.
  9. Are the newest episodes of Rick and Morty online?? If so, that doesn't hold up on the argument. Hell, I know that the Season 3 premiere ep was streaming online at the same time it was on TV! Do they count ratings for that?
  10. Why do you all automatically blame Toonami? People ditching cable in droves is NOT their fault.
  11. I can't see how this would affect the Funimation shows on Toonami in any sense.
  12. Yeah a lot of people aren't aware that SONY Music owns Aniplex, which acts separately from SONY Pictures, who bought a stake in Funimation. The Aniplex migration that a lot of their titles made has nothing to do with this deal.
  13. Recently I been having a problem with trying to view Funimation blogs posts: it automatically takes me to the login page upon loading!
  14. Welcome to the Ballroom 5 Because Japan has its annual sports events that broadcast over their regularly scheduled anime next week!
  15. SONY is a Japanese company firstly. Ideally, they'll take 1 look at Adult Swim's schedule and said "... nope, nu uh", and keep Super's premieres at 11:00 PM, telling off TOEI!
  16. Aniplex is SONY's anime company. At this point I assume a lot more Funimation titles will be handed over to them.
  17. ..... I think that's true. Disney tried to profit off anime once, they even got their top Pixar people to direct original dubs. But that didn't last.
  18. With how much SONY spent on them, I assume this means the DVDs will cost MORE.
  19. I do not see this affecting Toonami in a big way. Sure, Turner and SONY are rivals in the entertainment business, but there are many middlemen that operate between them.
  20. Yep. I am .... I don't know how to feel right now. http://variety.com/2017/digital/news/sony-pictures-tv-funimation-acquisition-1202511492/ Sony Pictures Television Networks will acquire a 95% majority stake in U.S.-based anime distributor Funimation Productions for about $143 million. The deal values Funimation, which was founded in 1994, at around $150 million. Funimation’s catalog includes such titles as “Dragon Ball Z,” “Cowboy Bebop,” “One Piece,” “My Hero Academia,” and “Attack on Titan,” and last year acquired U.S. rights to Japanese smash hit “Your Name” (pictured above). The deal will augment Sony Pictures Television Networks’ multiplatform Animax network, geared around Japanese anime content, in 23 countries including Japan. Gen Fukunaga, founder and CEO of Funimation, will retain a minority stake in the business and remain chief exec. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and certain other closing conditions. “With the acquisition of Funimation, the combined [intellectual property] of Animax, Kids Station and Funimation allows us to deliver the best anime to fans across all screens and platforms,” Andy Kaplan, president of worldwide networks for Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement. Funimation, based in Flower Mound, Texas, licenses, adapts and distributes anime content from Japanese rights holders internationally. Its catalog includes more than 10,000 hours of content with rights to over 450 brands and provides dubbed and subbed anime across multiple channels. The company operates the FunimationNow streaming platform for North American English-language audiences. “With Funimation’s long-established leadership position in anime and Sony’s direct access to the creative pipeline in Japan, it will be a great partnership to take Funimation to the next level,” Funimation’s Fukunaga said in a statement. With the Sony Pictures Television Networks deal, chairman John A. Kuelbs will depart from Funimation. Kuelbs said in a joint statement with lead investor Doug Deason, “We believe Sony, Gen and his team are uniquely positioned to lead Funimation and its fans into an exciting and entertaining future.” J.P. Morgan acted as financial adviser to Funimation along with Kelly Hart & Hallman as legal adviser. Gibson Dunn & Crutcher acted as legal adviser to Sony Pictures Television Networks on the deal.
  21. A Centaur's Life 4 Welcome to the Ballroom 4
  22. I'm watching 2 slice-of-life animes, as well as My Hero Academia Season 2, One Piece just starting with the Impel Down Arc, Welcome to the Ballroom which is shaping up to be another intense shonen series, and finally getting around to Yuri on Ice. So I consider the choices good ones.
  23. I didn't see it but I can't see how Nanbaka was so --*realizes all the main characters were hot men*..... OOOOookay now it makes sense. Still great for him!
