Slowdive, Joy Division, and The Smiths
PurgatoryGirl replied to Naraku4656's topic in Arts, Literature & Music
Even though Joy Division had good songs, their lyrics were always very depressing. Then again, Ian Curtis was a very depressed lead singer with a slew of problems. That's why he committed suicide. I can't help listening to most of Joy Division's songs without feeling depressed. -
That boy obviously did something to the black sheep for him to want some kind of restitution. Everyone is literally running for their lives, while the sheep's wool falls everywhere. That boy caused all hell to break loose like a black sheep apocalypse.

Before our original thread was moved to the Music sub-forum, I shared the longer version of "Christian Woman." Luckily, they didn't move this thread. -

I actually enjoyed this music collaboration with The Cure. KoRn has not released a good album within the last 10-14 years. Untouchables was really their last best album in 2002. It redeemed them from their 4th album, Issues. I can't believe I submitted my artwork to KoRn for such a shitty album in 1999. To add to it, they didn't even choose a real KoRn fan as their winner. Now that I think about it, it was for the best of all Old School KoRn Kids that our artwork wasn't chosen for their Issues album. 2003 to the present, most of their songs have sucked. The first 3 albums and their 5th album were the best albums KoRn released. -

Listening to this song is nostalgic. I'll never forget, when Johnny Depp introduced Nine Inch Nails' performance at the 1999 MTV VMA's. The crowd was lively and actually cheering, too. Looking back, that was when MTV still cared about music videos, before everyone and their dog decided to become "political activists," and before MTV launched a bunch of socially inept, teenybopper dramas and reality shows. -

I can't remember. Did I already share this song by London After Midnight in our previous thread? -
Triskaidekaphobic, superstitious, or not? http://www.triskaidekaphobia.info/index.html Anyway, stay safe on the roads, on the 13th floor of a building, or an elevator, etc.

Hell Girl aired on IFC 10-11 years ago. The network only aired Season 1. The last 2 seasons weren't dubbed yet at the time. -
Here is another creepy short. Stalker From The Cornfield is a Horror Stop-Motion Animated Short about a married couple. They are being stalked by an emotionally disturbed (dare I even say, "woman scorned"?) woman, who works alongside them in the cornfields. Whenever the couple shares "tender moments" so to say, the stalker reacts violently. I feel the stalker is jealous, bitter, and miserable. I don't know if she is holding a grudge against the husband because he probably dumped or rejected her, or if she is the wife's "frenemy." Maybe the stalker is sociopathic and bitter for not having a happy, loving family. Anything is possible. Benjamin Oke did a fantastic job of creating this short.

Might as well bump this, too. -
You're welcome.

Damn, this board is so dead lately. Anyway, I'm just bumping this thread in case anyone missed it.

Ahh, I see. Anthony Hopkins was actually the voice actor for the ventriloquist doll, Fats.

Bands like Nirvana for example considered the Thrash/Doom/Gothic Metal band, Celtic Frost to be a musical influence. Nirvana/Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl had the opportunity to collaborate with Tom Gabriel Fischer, while working on Dave's solo project, Probot in 2004. -
This ventriloquist doll sounds more comical yet creepy compared to Bugs Bunny's voice.

Here's a song I just remembered. It's by the Goth/Doom Metal band Draconian. -
Night Of The Living Dummy was published in 1993. I was 11 back then when I ordered it from the Scholastic newspaper, that schools used to have.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I still have that novel 20+ years later.
