It was a noble experiment and I have a personal bias toward it. BUT there's no denying that, while in existence, the general tone of the board grew nastier/more negative (the whole board, not just that folder) and posting began to slide off. once removed, the board feels more fun and posting patterns have bobbed upward again.

atm there is no real "post per thread" limit. there's not a huge need for one, as, if something large has to be processed, it can merely be broken up into smaller parts and processed and then reassembled to avoid any strain on the gutty works.

everyone monitors the board. anyone can report anything. then mods and admins can see/handle reports. what specific jackassness are you referring to?

Uneven Edge was a thing I did back before Adult Swim came along. I kinda wandered away from it and was always thinking of going back to it. So one day I just went "yeah okay let's do that". And as I was in the process of building that, AS pulled the plug on ASMB. So that's why this place is UEMB instead of ASMB. I actually sort of thought I would do UEMB and ASMB would still be around. And I would do both. But that did not happen. so now I'm just doin this one.

I like it okay. it's a little rough around the edges in terms of - like it's trying really hard to be this sort of edgy scripted drama. but still there are tropes baked in seemingly with intent to create anchor points. The two things don't always gel as well as they might. it's a little too vague in spots and a bit too abrupt in others and drags a bit here and there. I find myself off and on in terms of agreeing with the creative choices they make. Often I find myself thinking too much about that process such that it distracts from giving myself over to the story, which I think is something of a fault in the series. I would say it's a decent show. but - I don't think it rates quite the level of buzz and praise that it seems to be getting. but - good enough I think to stick with for a few episodes and see where it goes maybe.

My personal take on the question of Luke Skywalker's sexuality would be, based on Lucas' source material and seeming intent in terms of the character being a sort of the intergalactic equivalent of the "red blooded midwestern all american boy" stereotype, the character is most likely straight. I would suggest that, at the time the character was conceived, it was not in the creator's mind to make it anything but straight. this doesn't mean that he couldn't change his mind at some point. I believe he's (probably subconsciously) left room for that in the story. But on its most basic level/conception, I think it's pretty clear, at least at the offset, that the character was conceived as a non-gay character. I would go so far as to suggest that the notion of the character being gay wasn't even on the radar peripherally. Once a character gets handed over to corporate interests, and/or many many different writers/creators over many different mediums, stuff can happen. But I think just the basic character from the original Star Wars film, seems to have been conceived as a heterosexual character.

is any hero of any nationality really that interesting without baggage? also Disney is pretty gay-friendly, and has a lot of gay execs, and has in the past been very vocal about believing in equal rights, even taking flack for it. Having said that, they are a corporate entity that is answerable to markets and stockholders. So they aren't perhaps as free in their minds to do quite as much as I'm sure they are probably chomping at the bit to do. also - sexuality isn't really all or nothing. people who are gay sometimes take awhile to discover that. some people who are gay go to their graves without even acknowledging it. people don't just go "k i'm gay now". some know, some don't. some that know don't want to quite let themselves in on that. it's more complicated than "is this person gay or not, ANSWER ME RIGHT NOW" I would say - more satisfying characters are characters who possess human complexity. So it could easily be that Skywalker was gay all along, but still not quite ready to be that early on. Or confused about his life and things going on around him such that it took a bit for him to come to terms with it. Or distracted by things he may have seen as larger concerns. It's also possible, given all the things he becomes embroiled in right off the farm, that he never had time to truly develop/explore a sexual identity.
