I think tighten up the arc is a better description based on what people have said. To me it sounds like Isayama and the anime staff have tried to make the same events and information in the arc flow better. I've not read ahead in the manga though. So if they get the pacing and flow right it sounds like it should be a pretty good arc and the first two eps were great and very gripping.
