Yeah, the Blade Runner 2049 was great. Can't wait. And yeah, that anime short they did for promotion with the movie was really cool.

Yup. BBK/BRNK (or Bubuki/Buranki). Good show worth checking out. Currently sub only on Crunchy Roll until it hopefully eventually gets picked up. Group of characters with special weapons and a big mecha. Art director from Kill la Kill so the background art, sharp color work, and special effects style very much have his touch. As do some of the story beats actually.

Thanks, that makes sense if that's the reason. Like I said, for this show I did remember noticing brightness drop a little during Levi's big glorious chase coming up in ep 2, but I wasn't sure if it was due to the time of day progression with the sun setting since all the colors also got deeper too. But this makes more sense since CorbeauKarasu's probably right in that it happens in a lot of anime action scenes as I have noticed it from time to time. I'm surprised I didn't really notice anything like that during the big fight in the crystal cave toward the end of the season.

Hmm I'll have to look out for that during this time through the re-run. I do notice that sometimes the colors can get sharper and better shaded during some of these sequences so maybe that contributes. I do think in this particular episode the sun is starting to set as their fight kicks off since everything gets more golden colored for Levi's escape.
